Nice job on the cleanup of the caps. It's a shame that the case is in such a bad state but nevertheless it's an excellent find. JUKI stuff is so cool

Re: IBM Model M Screw, Nut and Bolt Mod
Ah...is that what those things are for? I thought they were for holding the layers in place so that nothing shifted sideways. Anyway, I was pretty careless when I took the keyboard apart quite some time ago. I cut away most of those crescents but in the end everything still works and feels great. Yo...

Re: IBM Model M Screw, Nut and Bolt Mod
In spite of the miscegenation I have found that an Imperial 1/16" hole is perfect for an M2 screw because the screw will cut its way into the plastic and make a wonderful threaded socket for itself without need for a nut, or can forced in a little harder to function as a regular pilot hole. Exactly...

Re: IBM Model M Screw, Nut and Bolt Mod
Huge thread necro but just wanted to say thanks for this guide, Madhias. I did my first ever screw mod over the weekend and it went very well. I used these screws which are probably cheese-grade Chinesium given the price but they did the job. I also used a 1/16 imperial drill bit (1.59mm) which felt...

Nice work, matt3o. I'm digging it!
I noticed in the spy that some threads just have 'Re' as the title -- has that been reported yet?

It looks like Rakuten might be one of the only places to get a new ANSI-layout one. Not sure if they ship directly to the UK though... https://item.rakuten.co.jp/fujitsucomponent/kb107/

What's neat about the source of those images is that the two keyboards being reviewed appear to be the SE1100 and SE11B0, both listed on the Topre OEM Keyboards page as prototype models (10 of which were made in each colour). I am just using Google translate but it sounds like they were made availab...

The Libertouch is a hidden gem. I like them just as much as my Topre boards and their tactility is more crisp and sharp -- the only problem is they never made tenkeyless versions of them so I don't really use mine anymore. My daughter uses it instead :) Sadly, while cheaper than Topre, they're still...

I didn't think that PFU would ever be selling Realforces. Kinda odd.
I wonder if Topre will do their own ANSI Realforce R2 TKL at some point...I'll have to do another Realforce wiki page update over the weekend as I still haven't added the initial R2 RKL models yet.

Good advice above -- especially with regards to tightening screws. I usually alternate between left side and right side when doing the screws and don't over-tighten; as soon as the screw touches the PCB I give it a very gentle twist and that's it. The other thing I was thinking about when you mentio...

Nice. I am going through this process at the moment too on an SSK. I am at the point where I'm ready to drill the holes in the barrel plate. I think I might've fucked up but I'm not sure; I've dremeled down the plastic rivet posts where you're supposed to drill through -- either side of those posts ...

gold-plated keyboard released in 2008. korean customs are always ahead of time. lol This one is actually kinda cool 8-). I haven't tried hypersphere or keyclack silencing rings but I do have factory silenced Realforce keyboards and I don't really like them, but that's just me -- I prefer the upstroke sound and feel of a standard 45g Realforce. The upstroke of BKE domes is a lot snappier I've heard so maybe silencing r...

I think it's just easier to install a whole sheet but good luck finding one in 55g. As for the individual BKE domes, I've heard conflicting reports, but overall they seem to get positive reviews.Luna wrote: ↑ Would the single domes from mykeyboard.eu be a good idea?
Or is it better to use a whole sheet?

Yep, just domes need replacing and variable actuation would still work.Luna wrote: ↑On another note, I wonder if it would be possible to make a Realforce RGB 55g.
What would that take? Just change the domes, not the springs?
And would the variable actuation still work?

I always did wonder, if topre made the novatouch, why the rattle ? I didn't feel that my NovaTouch was rattly. The differences I noticed with mine were that the sliders were slightly more scratchy and required lubing, and the stabilisers didn't feel as nice. I think both of these things were at lea...

I am pretty sure that all of the US ANSI 10th Anniversary keyboards were ordered by Leopold. Funnily enough in 3 years time, these keyboards will be as old as the anniversary they are celebrating. I received the Realforce 87U 55g 10th Anniversary edition today. It is branded Leopold. I thought it would be branded Topre. Or is that the same company in Japan? All Realforces are made by Topre in their Sagamihara plant. The only example of foreign-made parts that I am aware of are the double-sho...
