Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Are the keyboards going to be part of the official QMK online configurator? If so, I agree we should write to that. If not, I think maybe we could have "Easy Configuration" and "Expert Configuration" chapters. Easy something like: - Downloading the QMK util utility (we'd definitely want to host bina...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Happiness: I had the case off and the xwhatsit board rotated up so I could get to the reset pads. That was fine, but I forgot that the capacitance is very much affected by whether the board is grounded to the metal plate or not. screwed the board back down, unplugged and replugged, and it's working ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Mixed results so far. I made a keyboard config hex with Andrei's online configurator. I shorted the prog pads to get into boot loader mode, and uploaded the firmware with QMK Toolbox. That wiped the cap sense logic of course, and also reduced the keyboard to less than useful state. I did that a few ...

Thanks Andrei, I'm going to take darkcruix's idea, that should work great. I love the fact I have 20+ years of my computing history on this mac, thanks to apple's setup / transition thingie, but I've accumulated so much crud in /opt/local, usr/bin/ etc that I'm never very surprised when even a brew ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
I put a strip of electrical tape over the yellow tape, it seems to be enough for now. I can imagine one of those pins is going to make it's way through the electrical tape and short again though. Ok, now I'm typing with the F77. Sound and feel are quite nice. I haven't used my Model F AT in a year o...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
oooh. That was it. If I take the back cover off, all the keys work as expected. Andrei: I'm still working on getting QMK setup. qmk setup is returning some kind of error about not being able to run bin/qmk, which is odd. I can run that if I use a full path. Dinking around with export now to see why ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
I didn't see any obvious shorts on visual inspection, for the 2 wires you highlighted. I checked between them with the multimeter at various points in the circuit, and they didn't show a short. the far 2 on the left, and the far 2 on the right do show shorts (don't know the circuit, assume that's ok...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
My F77 came today! Yea! Some of the keys don't work... bummer. The keys that don't respond... it's not the springs, and I don't think it's the hammers, as I can see that they move up/down with the springs. I tried to run ibm_capsense_usb_util.app v0.9.0 (latest on the xwhatsit site). I'm familiar wi...

I found this while helping out a friend with his Commodore repair shop (continuous operation since 198x!). Wait... is that true? I could take some keys off of one of my selectrics, and put them on my displaywriter keyboard? wow. That is GREAT. and not just because one of my keys arrived crushed. Model F AT for $40!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Origina ... 2208973821
I set my aside for a year or so, using a Model F terminal, but did a keypad tweak recently, and went back to the AT after that. Great keyboard for modding.

A couple of interesting small form factor vintage keyboards. I know nothing about these switches, however. The keys look cool though. One of them has a manual, which maybe would tell you what you need to wire up an interface (assuming you have soarer-level godlike abilities). It reminds me of the co...

Interesting layout! No idea what it is. It has Cherry MX switches. Judging from the DIN5 connector, it is probably a PC/XT or PC/AT keyboard. If it's PC/XT and you hook it up via a DIN5-to-PS2 connector, you'll probably fry it. If it's AT, it will work just fine. TOo bad about all the yellowing. Wit...

Hmm. That's... interesting. You have a tiny keyboard, where all keys are within reach of the home keys (easily), and you you have to take off your fingers and slide to a non-home key position to access what are arguably the most important non-letter, non-space, non-number keys. The KBT Pure had a KL...

Great review, thanks for the writeup. As someone who hasn't used a HHKB (well I have a lite gathering dust somewhere, I hacked it apart for a project a few years ago), I'm really curious about that weird (yes, WEIRD) cursor diamond: what fingers are you using for that? Are you really using your righ...

I'm not sure how to test the height. People have dremeled out cherry caps and put them on cut-off IBM stems. It looks like they are dremeling out the entire cap stem. I think we'd get pretty close to that though. The plate curve is indeed going to be a bit of an issue. I think 7Bit is right: it's ei...

Idea: 3D printing of IBM Buckling Spring stem for MX caps
I've been trying to interest Unicomp in a black/white key caps set for BS keyboards, but they stopped responding ;) So, on to plan B: do a 3D printing of a BS-compatible stem, with a + stem that can take a Cherry MX keycap. In theory, letting you use your cherry caps with your Model M etc. So, imagi...
