Ok, so I fixed the problem(s). tl;dr 2 solder points were unreliable. I used the pic from "Appendix A: Installation in 3178s and derivatives" from here and determined which Model F PCB pins are the columns. Then I ran a wire dirrectly from each pin to the corresponding point on the xwhatsit controll...

[Fixed] Help needed with Model F 3178 and xwhatsit controller
Hello, So after having all the pieces for almost an year, I finally found the time to disassemble/clean/reassemble/change controller on a 3178 board. The problem is that 3 columns are dead : http://i.imgur.com/W1YF0Vf.png I've visually checked and there are no shorted contacts on the controller or a...

Cherry MX blue variant identification
Hello, Need some help with identifying some cherry mx blue switches. These came off a NTC KB-6252CH that I got from lowpoly a while ago The stem color is a a bit lighter and the switch also feels lighter and less clicky than normal MX blue (just old age?) The cherry logo is also different from the o...

That's interesting, thanks for the info! Putting Esc on the ISO extra key is an interesting one that I hadn't thought of myself. That sounds like it'd be really useful for vim, actually. Originally I wanted to place FN there and put Control on "caps lock", but it's kind of meh place for FN for me s...

I want to use my converter that I made for a Terminal Model M 122 for a model F XT. The 122M converter one uses GND,Clock,Data, 5V (GND, PD1,PD0,VCC) (same as XT) and accepts a 8P8C jack. If I take a AT to PS2 adapter cable (AT and XT are physically identical, right?) and cut off the PS2 part and pu...
