Just so you know OP, there is NO endgame keyboard. You're probably a youngen on this website and want to try the 'best' considered keyboard. But there is no. No such thing as the 'best' switch, 'endgame' switch nor 'holy grail' switch.

But hey, Capacitive buckling spring is life.

http://deskthority.net/resources/image/12485 This is probably the closest you are going to get to a horizontal return... Damn. Can you assign two different keys to register the same command? And can you disable the key fully? Like the key will just not register anything if you press it? Cheers

That's the magic of the AT: it's essentially a keyboard layout experiment kit. There's a ton you can do with one. And it feels similar enough to an XT that I consider it a much more desirable piece of kit. The XT can theoretically play the same games. You can open it up and move the springs around ...

Thats an awesome layout you did with the remapping Murium! Do you think its possible to make an XT almost ANSI? Your AT seems pretty much ANSI and it looks awesome.

I should also use the numpad as a nav cluster.

Oh gosh. Just realised there are no arrow keys nor page up/down... Hahaha hopefully remapping the keys will allow somewhat a usable layout. Yeah I will hold onto my topre for a bit before hopefully settling into a Model F. I care more about key feel than actual layout so hopefully I can make do with...

OK guys. I just plunged for an XT Model F. Was tested and was very clean (I'll do further cleaning once i receive it). I paid $75 for it + shipping. I didn't know whether to pick AT, XT or 122 so I just went for the XT as many of you said it was the best built and felt more 'crisp' and 'solid' than ...

I have a 2013 Nascita if you want. Fully working condition with original box and accessories. Like everyone says, its a below decent mouse that isn't worth the asking price. Yeah it looks cool on their website but the sensor isn't great at all. Comfort wise is probably its only above decent point bu...

Wow Jou thats a nice 122 you got there! How did you remap those keys like that? And is it difficult to do? I really like how the shift and control are back to normal and your f keys are up there.

And what is the point of changing the foam inside a Model F about?

The XT is also far better made than the AT just saying :) 122 is the best option if you want it as close to ANSI as possible , i think there is a 122 up on eBay at the mo Theres this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Model-F122-Keyboard-New-SOARERS-Converter-Adapter-ALL-KEYS-TESTED-WORKING-/30162485...

How are XT's better made then AT's?

I personally think the AT has the best layout as it is somewhat modernized if you know what I mean? The other layouts I guess would still work but are just slightly unorthodox to me.

Ahhhh which layout should I go for???

Model Fs are built differently and don't use rivets in the same way. It's possible, as I understand it, but probably a fool's errand with a chance of causing damage to the PCB. So Model F's dont really need to be bolt modded? What if the rivets become loose and the keystrokes will not feel as crisp

Also, is a bolt mod able to be done on a Model F? I am afraid the rivets may have come lose if I buy a vintage board. If it can, I may send it to someone to bolt mod.

So I am just trying to find my most preferred switch for typing but I just can't as of yet. I have an IBM Model M 1390131 and a RealForce 87U 55G.
