I guess replacing the controller is really the way to go for these since they do not seem to be convertible to a modern protocol with a modern layout noninvasively

I would absolutely kill for one of these with the spherical caps... Especially a Japanese one. The layout is immaculate, possibly the best caps ever made for SKCC mount, this thing is a beast.

That’s a hell of a keyboard layout! It would get quite expensive considering literally every key is non‐standard and many require stabilizers due to the additional size. Some features I'd like to see is better Unicode support - keyboard-layout-editor lacks the ability to display wide characters, more presets, and a 'flat' key style consisting of just a flat rectangle with a border.
