Wow 2 years, time flies. I visit several times a day but my posting has slowed down since I've been too skint to buy any new keyboards.

ALPS don't seem to fair as well as MX with use over time - that's kind of a turn off.

Are they white rubber dampened ALPS? I used to LOVE orange ALPS.

I think a lot of this "topre don't last very long" is down to that silly thread on GH which measured a couple of HHKBs (using a questionable measurement procedure), performed now formal analysis and then generalized to the whole population of topre keyboards everywhere.

Remember 86u is 30-40-45g. 87u is 35-40-45g. It makes quite a difference.

I had a 86U that I used quite a lot for just under a year. I thought it felt great, but when I bought another variable 87U and tried that the difference was night and day. I thought that the used 86U was significantly less tactile than the 87U.

That's a lovely looking keyboard fossala! As temping and as good looking as it is, I think I'll pass, I haven't really got a use for it!

It should be really easy to just swap the innards of the switch out with what you want.

1. Pop the switch out; not difficult.
2. Remove the 4 clips holding the top to the bottom of the switch to the bottom.
3. Replace inside and put back together.

So you did this without having to remove the ...
