Thinking of maybe get one of these numpads and then perhaps one of the group builds you are working on.

steel bottom is uniquely to add weight (I would have used alu or wood otherwise) the plate is aluminum Ok. But the "plate" with all the holes in it is what I am wondering about. Does it stabilize the switches, or is it only for protecting the pcb? the alu plate is just for added stability or if you...

How much does the steel layer which you put the switches in do in terms of stability for the switches? Is there a big difference in stability compared to just have the switches on the pcb, or is it more of a long term safety? Maybe it's also for protecting the pcb itself from dirt and other bad thin...

The people that put all the props together in these kind of movies really know their stuff. Switches are pretty easy to solder into a PCB. Maybe the USB socket will be a challenge, and the Teensy. But you should be fine. Now just set aside twice the budget you expect and you're good to go. You'll find out why. It always happens! Maybe I will need more than twice the budget if I get hooked...

Hi all! I absolutely love this thread. It's in fact this thread that made me register. I don't have my own mechanical keyboard yet and thought it would be fun to have a customized one. I don't think I will come up with my own layout but just copy someone else (as long as it's ISO ;) ). I think I'm o...
