I was gonna say, looks pretty decent compared to what it was! I use a wooden dowel of the appropriate diameter, and a hairdryer set on low. Maybe those would help you next time.

That is a good point, Fs are older so if there is wear involved then you would expect them to be smooth on both the barrels and the caps, but it appears to be just the caps that are smooth. Wyse 50s are beautiful keyboards! I recently came across this keyboard in a pile I picked up to desolder. I have never seen caps like these on a Wyse before. Connector is a standard terminal jack.
