Happy they are still going. Prices have definitely increased a lot since I bought mine in 2014.

Re: Topre 3rd Party Domes
Edit: forgot the link. I recommend staying away from Keyclack. I ordered a pack of domes from them last November. The order's status on the web site is still listed as "Your order is confirmed. You’ll receive an email when your order is ready." Looking at r/mk, I am not the only one having that iss...

Re: Topre 3rd Party Domes
I don't have experience, but sounds like you want to be looking at BKE replacement domes. I know they have a V1 and a V2. You can buy sample packs, so that might be a cheap way for you to experimenting before committing. Edit: forgot the link. https://www.keyclack.com/products/bke-topre-dome-replace...

Re: Post the ugliest keyboards you've seen!
3D_ShineThru.jpg I will fall on my sword and say I made this one myself. And no that is not a render, that is what it looks like IRL, the 3D outline carved into the keycaps gives it a cel shaded effect. If you look closely at the key edges they were all manually carved. It sits unironically beside ...

Local vet keyboard haul
With 2 kids I've found I have little time and less money for keyboards so I've put my hobby on hold mostly. However on FB marketplace I stumbled on a post that mentioned keyboards. Saw it was a local vet (in fact the vet Ive used for 8 years) selling old computer monitors keyboards etc. I previously...

Sad. I had been really looking forward to this, though admittedly I didn't preorder (rarely do I preorder anything). I had also forgot about this multiple times as it had drug on for so long.

up until 2 weeks ago i was using an AEK on windows 10 with a griffin iMate. There were a bunch on ebay a while ago for $40.00 but those seem to have dried up. Shame, as its literally plug and play if you don't want to tinker.

Re: How long does it take you to get to know a keyboard?
For most moderately standard keyboards with small/medium quirks and to get a really good feel for the switches I think a week of every day usage is my sweet spot.
Now if i were to try something more exotic like an ergodox or some weird custom i couldn't say.

Re: To Topre Enthusiasts
I'm coming at this from the other direction... I have no Topre experience but a TON of rubber dome experience including Topre clone (ABKO K935P). The ABKO has quickly become one of my favorite keyboards ever. The only ones I rate higher are my New Model M... and my BTC dome with slider boards. The ...

Re: Stuff you just bought
Well, if you flip it, you will be *judged*. So bear that in mind! Ghnnn, I've been holding out on buying that exact one. I do love the idea of the switch, its sound etc. But I really really hate the modern case height with exposed switches at the bottom. (also the silver thing...) At that price, ve...

I have nothing helpful to say, but I'm honestly jealous. I always wanted a HiPro but never could pull the trigger. Now they are expensive and hard to find. I'd have to assume some sort of o-ring or something would make the sound much better, but I'll let all the topre experts weigh in.

I use an apple aek at work with bumps on d and k. Just an adjustment period. When I switch to another board, it maybe takes me a couple minutes to adjust. Not a big deal now. It was however weird for like the first week or 2 for me.

Re: A little love for Unicomp
Hot take. My 2015 Unicomp M feels better than any of my IBM model M's. I'd buy more from them if I could. That being said, their new cases are definitely more creaky than OG IBM cases. That kinda makes me sad.
I'm sure its been discussed, but is it different plastic?

I saw new model M's mentioned a few times. I have one from like 2014 or 15. Custom 103 key. Are the new M's newer than this?

Worked at Geek Squad retail about 10-12 years ago. I had heard about mechanical boards, but had never tried one. Lady came in to recycle some stuff including a IBM Terminal M and a Chicony KB-5181 w/Monteray blues. Never got the M converted, but I used the Chicony for a long time, and I was hooked. ...

LOVE the idea of a battle scarred looking unit. I'm NO expert on paint, finish, etc, but I'd find a way to show off the case as is.
