Re: Dell L100/SK-8115 (matte silver/gray with black logo)

Don't know if there is a difference with the black ones vs this lighter one, but the black version is one of my least favorite keyboards I have ever used. I do like this color though, never seen one before.

This is a very cool project. Will it be left in the raw or do you have plans for a finish? Your hand wiring is very clean, good job.

Re: Xerox 6040 typewriter, proto-topre foam-and-foil capacitative?

I have a keyboard with these switches in my collection somewhere. I cant remember the make or application. I will try and see if I can track it down this weekend in storage. I don't think it's branded Xerox I think I would have remembered that.

Re: Don't you feel like DT is dying?

I joined DT 9 yrs ago. I haven't been witness to the decline of DT as I had to step away to deal with health and other life issues. I have lost a mother and a son along the way and had 6 grand kids enter my world. I guess I was part of the decline by stepping back.

I am a little disheartened by ...

Re: Project Log: 3D Printed, "Double Shot," Spherical Buckling Spring Keycaps

This is basically the prototyping approach I was using with my SBS & SCM projects. I see this is an old topic and not sure where it went but the work looks very nice. I plan on making a few full sets of keys using the printed / resin infused method in the upcoming weeks.

Wow, it has been a long time. I'm just getting back to doing some keyboard stuff with my oldest son and dug up our design files to dust off this project (sort of) and make a few custom keyboards. I don't have any intentions of making a serious production run but am looking forward to getting back ...

Hi Zed, It's a pleasure to read about the degree of care and attention to detail you're lavishing on the design. The typographical "optical anomalies" actually make a difference, at least to my eye (used to be a graphic design and typography geek).

Your layout is little different than mine, but I see you have a left hand enter key :) Your board looks to be in excellent condition and I like the wider caps on the side columns. I'm interested in seeing your approach for a case.

Damn, you want to be able to make custom keycaps?

On the contrary, I think a lot of you don't realize just how trivial it is to make your own dye-sublimated caps, and what a ripoff they are.

Here's what you need, as an example:

Epson inkjet printer
Heat transfer inks
Heat transfer paper
An oven ...
