East Asian input is software based. The scan codes are mostly the same and in case of JIS, you have extra keys that emit scan code. Karabiner names the JIS extra keys JIS_* so you can take a look at its scan code definitions

If you're desperate for additional IO pins, you can also solder to the resistor of the LEDs at the bottom (with the micro USB connector at the top). They're PB0 and PD5. They'd be a lot easier to solder onto than those QFN pads…

Right handed, usually with right thumb. My left thumb's primary responsibility is to hit "Command" (i.e. the modifier next to the space bar which you need a lot when you work on a Mac) and "Alt" (to enter umlauts and moving the cursor word-wise).

Picked up the keyboard and I'm currently typing on it. First impressions: it's nicely built. Currently, I'm fighting against my muscle memory that thinks I'm typing on a Ergodox since it's physically split. Due to the wrist rest, I can't use this one with my RollerMouse which is a bit of a bummer…
