@Sigmoid: An XT layout fan? Well, Stockholm Syndrome is real after all! (Before our Canuck ranter strikes back: no, Stockholm is not in Denmark. Try again!)
:D I never said I'm a fan, it is quite strange... But it's worth the price to ping ratio of the keyboard otherwise, as its upfuckedness never ...

I mean, sure, Model M's are good keyboards (though 2KRO, srsly, that is the fucking shit), but the cult following seems a bit weird. (BTW making an M sound like an F by removing the noiseproofing is like drilling the muffler of an old shit Suzuki Swift, and then acting like you're a cool guy in a ...

Redistributable xkb configurations on Linux...?
So Linux has this awesome ubercomplete keyboard configuration system... However at the moment I feel like it's completely useless for any actual configuration beyond what's burned-in.
I have a few improvements I'd like to make to make my old Thinkpad behave nicer... I intend to define new xkb ...

The futile quest for the ideal pointing device
So apparently there is no thread yet specifically about the merits and drawbacks of pointing device classes, so I made one for some good-natured jabs and actual discussion on the topic. :)
I was around 10 years old when I first used a pointing device, at a computing expo on an old Macintosh. It ...

I'm using a mid-range MDP to DP cable bought off of Amazon to dock my Macbook Pro, disconnecting and connecting almost every day, and it has been holding up for two years now without issues other than the plastic cover on the plug coming off (nothing some super glue won't fix).

You probably do want two Alt keys, believe me. European layouts use the right Alt as AltGr, which accesses a whole other keyboard layer. ;) I've never seen a human being use the menu key on the other hand, but do correct me if you do find a use for it. :D (If you intend to use it as a Compose key ...

I know four pins would have to be used for power, GND and I²C. That leaves eight pins.
I am guessing that you intend to have a 3×5 matrix, with columns being Red, Green and Blue and each row being lit whole at once.
Maybe rows could instead be sunk (or driven) by a multiplexer (select next output ...

Aw, I'd totally prefer double-shot ABS. I have a strong dislike for SA's unprofessional way of doing PBT. :D I think it would make sense to do a vote or gauge interest in both approaches...? How bad is the double-shot backlog you're talking about?
BTW, another thing... it would be cool if you could ...

I think your direction and the purpose of this thread are only tangential. The goal here is to recreate the IBM Model F mechanism exactly or at least very closely - it has the advantage of having been meticulously documented (all the expired patents to go by), extremely well proven (years and years ...

If you go with Signature Plastics, it's probably wiser to get ABS keycaps. They are NOT tooled for working with PBT, and only do PBT keycaps to ride _TEh HyP3 tR4iN_, while profusely apologizing for the subpar results. While people do say that the PBT keycaps they make are "good enough", and "the ...

I've bought a CST L-Trac back when there was a massdrop on the things, but only started using it recently for CAD stuff. :D Anyway it's a pretty awesome device, the only problem I have with it is the position of the middle button. I wish it was placed in a thumb-reachable position.

Ideen zum 'vereinfachtem' Neo2-Belegung
Hallo Leute,

Keycap legends and non-QWERT[Y/Z] layouts
So I started wondering recently, among people using or starting to learn an optimized keyboard layout, what's the most popular option for keycap legends. You can get Colemak and Dvorak keysets, probably also Neo-2 ones, but as far as I know, most people learn these layouts on a standard keyboard ...
