[WTB] EU - Few Missing MT3 /dev/tty keycaps
Hey there, good people of Deskthority! I won't lie to you - I like old computers. Maybe because I'm no longer a spring chicken myself, but that's always the look I go for. After building myself a keyboard (Vortex PC66 with MT3 /dev/tty keycaps) it looks pretty cool, but my problem is the slightly no...

I found out the only key I was using on the numpad was enter, mostly because it was closer to the mouse. Now I occasionally hit the right arrow and wonder why nothing is happening, only to realize this was a habit. The only thing about the 87u layout that isn't where I'm used to are the <> keys, but...

I even placed a pad of paper under the Relaforce, it's more silent and doesn't resonate so much. Maybe some liquid rubber would go well with the model F and not interfere with normal keyboard operation? I also never noticed how much force is actually necessary to press a key on the IBM, feels like t...

I am beginning to really like this Realforce, but I also wouldn't mind owning a model F. Perhaps a stroke of genius will hit me and I'll think of a way to silence it properly. Model M is much quieter at night when sitting on a towel, maybe F will have a trick as well. :) An SSK also sounds awesome, ...

Damn, those are nice - both the SSK and the F. :-| Do you only use them occasionally or as a daily driver? I'm beginning to like this Topre, it's different. A little mushy, but still somehow satisfying to type on. A 55g, much quieter model F would be the one keyboard to rule them all. I'm constantly...

These look so awesome! I remember seeing them around several times as a kid, but they disappeared since. Everybody who still has one of these keyboards gave me the same answer - you could only pry them from my cold, dead hands. :-) I formulated the "law of keyboards" - you could have them tactile, q...

I'm still seriously curious about the model F, and even beam spring. IBM made some very interesting technical solutions, too bad it's so damn loud and hard on the fingers. I'd even live with finger strain if there was some good, reliable way to silence them and not ruin them along the way. I was alw...

Realforce 87u first review (use time: 1 hour)
My dear model M was seriously unacceptable for use at night, and after being threatened with sharp pointy objects, I got myself a Realforce 87u through forum classifieds. If my gf asks you, it cost 30$. Ok? :) Here are my first impressions after owning it for an hour. For somebody used to large vint...

Now I'm seriously scared I'd like anything except the M, but I'll surely try. :) Are the SSK model M's maybe more quiet due to their size? How much do they cost on average? (and I don't mean the expensive industrial version). :) And you got me seriously interested in Topre, I'll ask around the local...

I tried your advice to put something between the keyboard and the desk, and I got fewer death threats from the significant other, but it's still loud as hell at 2 AM. I wonder if wrapping towels around *her* would be a cheaper solution. :))) What would I need to do in order to use the AEK II on a mo...

I actually have an ICL branded keyboard stashed somewhere, and it has those funny looking space invaders switches. I don't know if these keyboards came in several versions, but mine isn't clicky at all, so I guess that would be the linear variant? That being said, it really sucks and it was stashed ...

I'll hang around a bit before trying to enter some program like this, because I'm new and you don't usually trust new people with expensive keyboards. :) It was a great relief to find this forum, since I always thought I was a bit eccentric for caring so much about keyboard quality, only to learn th...

I think Topre is out of my league for now, but I'm starting to get curious what all the fuss is about and what justifies that price tag. I'm not emotionally attached to the IBM, I just like how linear it is, up to a point where it sharply breaks and makes contact - it gives good feedback when a key ...

Whoa, this is complicated. :) Blacks, clears, blues, whites.... I was looking at an Apple Extended Keyboard II from ... ramnes, I think. What's it like and how does it compare to IBM? I'm very satisfied with my M, but the better half isn't and cannot sleep with my typing... so, it's kind of a domest...

Thanks, it's a pleasure to be here! :) Had to Google what TKL is, but yes - that form factor would be very desirable since I've never gotten used to numeric keypad. Backlights ... I don't know what I'd do with a back-lit keyboard, seems like an unnecessary complication. I used to own a Cherry G81 20...

Recommend me a keyboard!
Howdy, y'all! I recently admitted to myself I have a keyboard fetish and stumbled upon this interesting community. Help a newbie out, please! I'm a sysadmin/coder (who obviously does a lot of typing) and currently use a Model M. Even though I love it and it's a true pleasure to type on it, it's way ...
