Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
sEQr20A.jpg Oh yeah, quick addition! The magnets have the perfect amount of pull! I can easily detach the numberpad from the keyboard, yet can also suspend the number pad by it's magnets! From a compact 88 key 76% layout, to a 122 key battleship of a behemoth, and back again, all on demand!

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
lkalkTd.jpg I pulled an all nighter and finished wiring the Number Pad! I can't even begin to tell you all how happy I am to have it finished! The LED drivers are split into two banks, each driving about half the LEDs. Did I need to... Again, like the main keyboard, I'm greatly limiting the total c...

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
ciuZD0O.jpg I've got the connector wired up. I've tested the continuity several times, and as far as I can tell, the main keyboard's wiring is now 100% complete! I can't tell you all how happy I am to be able to say that! That said, I am having an issue, and I'm not sure why. I know my LEDs worked ...

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
qIXmo5v.jpg Progress has been made! I am as close as I ever have been to finishing fully! I do still have wiring to do, but the hardest part is done. I have successfully disassembled the USB-C magnetic connectors, and successfully installed them into the keyboard and number pad trim pieces! 3dO5fbT...

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
Keyboard75_MagSafe20Compare.jpg Good news and bad news... The good news, is one of my two orders of 20-pin magnetic USB-C connectors came in, and amazingly, it arrived in a mere 6 days! I'm shocked by the shipping time! As you can see above, it's barely any larger than the old connector, which quit...

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
The absolute irony of my absolute failure to put in the time to figure out the unique coding situation to resolve the hot-swapability of this keyboard, and the ridiculous amount of time that has passed since procrastinating on finding a solution to the problem, has left me with an unexpected hardwar...

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
https://i.imgur.com/cvnqw0c.jpg So with this small modification, I do belive the main keyboard is 100% hardware complete! I did disconnect the PWM output D7 from the Teensy, freeing up one I/O line. That's not important, but it did make my previous rework of the matrix from a 7x14 to a 7x13 very un...

Re: Custom "75%+1" layout with "Danger Zone" Caps & Dyed Gateron MX Tops
https://i.imgur.com/KS3sRcV.jpg Good Lord, it's been a while! So, I actually sat down and worked on the numberpad LED wiring. This project has literally sat for two years! Originally, I got motivated into working on it, only to find I had made a mistake, and it just deflated any and all motivation....

No PCB as of yet, but I DID finally learn how to use KiCAD, so maybe someday in the future. Right now, I'm super busy with my two jobs, and I STILL need to figure out firmware. I was thinking about the following matrix configuration: C0 C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 C6 C7 C8 C9 C10 C11 C12 C13 C14 C15 C16 C17 C18 ...

Furthermore, I'm aiming for a keyboard with an absolutely minimal footprint ... Except that the edges of your case extend out on each side, not being aligned to the footprint of the keys. Size-wise, there could just as well have been a thin frame around the keys. Okay, you got me there... I wanted ...

For me, exposing the switches was actually a design choice, because I disassembled all the switches when I lubed them up, and dyed all my top housings blue to match my blue anodized plate. Furthermore, I'm aiming for a keyboard with an absolutely minimal footprint, since it will optionally slot into...

Truth be told... Life, work, etc got busy when I was trying to learn this stuff. This is the first chance I've really had to get back into it. You know... I think for the sakes of getting this thing running, I'm going to select option A, even though layout wise, it's unintuitive. It's intuitive in terms of electrical layout, not physical layout. That's because my electrical matrix kinda jumps around all over the place on the right side of ...

I use Gateron Blue, but some have green springs. The top housings have all been dyed blue, to match the anodized aluminum plate. The reason there are more wires is I have LEDs in every switch. All LEDs are amber, controlled from a PWM pin of the Teensy 2.0. There are actually 4 banks of 22 LEDs, cov...

TMK for a Hot-Splittable Keyboard? Trying to Understand TMK
Keyboard76_NP_DZ_Split.jpg I have a keyboard project that's sat rather... stagnant for almost a year. The main keyboard is complete, and has been for a year, save for firmware. A sin, I know... The obviously functional way is to lay the matrix out electrically. This seems to be what's ...
