Re: IBM 29 Keypunch keyboard?
One of these turned up in a collection for sale near me. It's a bit too exotic for me and it likely won't be super cheap, but if someone here really wants it I'm happy to facilitate a deal.

I’ve got an F XT for sale too - I can do €200 plus shipping, but I’m in Sweden so shipping will cost a pretty penny of course.

Re: The great keyboard experiment
- Gazzew Boba U4T - Tecsee Purple Pandas - Durock Anubis - SP-Star Polaris Purple I am very impressed with the bump and sound of all of these, which is very close to SKCM Brown Alps — but lighter and with the MX PCB/plate and keycap compatibility these are frankly fantastic choices today. Thanks Sc...

Re: The great keyboard experiment
I got a bunch of them from that eBay/Etsy seller who has >200 different switches and lets you mix and match which you want and sends you a tester with them. He’s based in the US so it ends up costing a bit but the freedom to pick was worth it for me

Re: The great keyboard experiment
I used to say like you - that nothing in the MX space could touch my Alps or Model M/F boards - especially my SKCM Browns which had just no match whatsoever in the MX world. This was true up to and including Zealios, Holy Pandas, T1s and their clone variants…. Until I tried the latest generation of ...

Re: What's your piece of keyboard unobanium?
It’s time to revisit this thread; my current unobtanium is a sleek big-bezel (Exent/S7 Elephant) modern board with a nice case color, with hotswap PCB, underglow lighting and a 65-80% layout … ideally one that doesn’t include keys immediately to the right (ie. without a gap) of Backspace, Enter etc....

Re: F104+SSK+122+62+77+50+Ergo orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
I read in the comments section about a small number of folks who prefer the space between Ctrl and Alt to have no key (no Win/Gui key). I am in this camp. As a MacOS user who prefers to reconfigure the CapsLock key to Cmd/Ctrl, I have no use for the 1U keys on the bottom row. On my F77 I do need a ...

Re: Alps SKCM Brown and Alps in general
It comes with 58 SKCM Browns and a nice PBT keyset. If we value the keycaps at $115 (and I do, because I sold one for $115 just a month ago) then the browns are ($300-$115)/58 = $3.19 apiece, which is about right (I just sold my last browns a month ago for $2.90 apiece and I could have easily asked ...

Re: F104+SSK+122+62+77+50+Ergo orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Personally I think there’s at least three or four decent ideas in there, obviously they’d need another pass by a human with vector design skills, but I’d love if these keyboards could get a new logo that isn’t just the buckling spring patent drawing, which to me always looked overly detailed and not...

I can relate maybe see if you can get one or two loose switches first, just so you don’t invest $300 in an old board you end up not loving. There’s often some kicking around on eBay

Re: ESSK - Enhanced FSSK PCB.
I forgot that the F77 didn’t have the F-row, haha…. The rest of that post has a lot of talk around the fact that raw material cost is never what you end up paying as an end customer of small batch niche products. If someone (other than Ellipse) were setting up a manufacturing pipeline for thousands ...

Re: ESSK - Enhanced FSSK PCB.
The comment about modelfkeyboards.com makes me wonder: has anyone tried fitting an F77 inner assembly inside an SSK case? If they fit, then making an FSSK becomes a much easier process! And before you comment about the $350 price tag of an F77: a sacrificial F XT will set you back $120-200 and the r...

Re: ESSK - Enhanced FSSK PCB.
I actually don’t mind NiMH for this; it just depends how energy efficient the BLE and power management is. I suspect an SSK case can fit a couple of AA batteries just fine, and I don’t like the idea of a lithium explosion (sorry: “vent with flame” event) happening in one of my favorite keyboards

I happened to notice that the texture of the two keyboards are quite different. The color is slightly different too. I think both are very pretty and really don't mind, but it's just something I noticed. Funny thing is, that these two are manufactured on the same day (though with a serial number di...

Re: Alps SKCM Brown and Alps in general
Keyfeel wise, Topres and browns are very similar, with a bit of mushiness on the Topre side that you don’t get with the Alps. Other differences: availability of course, but also sound, longevity, keycap options, feasibility and complexity of using them in custom builds, and “Hey look at me” factor. ...

Well I hope there’s hope for a Round 2 in that case — and I would be willing to pay more than ~$95 for it (esp. if that included the couple of barrels I may be short). I mean, given the parts needed the metal FSSK is a $600 keyboard…. So if taylorswift has to charge another $25 for the trouble then ...
