Someone just wants to tap the knowledge of others without doing or contributing anything himself, and not he, but the others are named assholes.
Really nice.

Thank you for the support. I was a bit silly last week, but not entirely unprovoked. If people don't have the common courtesy (and common sense, when you consider it) to suggest politely and graciously the general gist of "how we do things", then they ought to hold their tongues. If you haven't the patience and understanding to realise that you were all n00bs once, then you may as well not answer, as aggressive and unkind words cause offence, and give the undesired appearance of geek elitism, which is highly unappealing, and not exactly very conducive to regarding relaxed, intelligent discussion.MyNameIsFinn wrote:kbdfr wrote:Nice.MyNameIsFinn wrote:I dont get why anyone would give you problems for asking questions thats why you are here. You don't know me, I don't know you. We are on neutral ground. You may assume you know more than me on one subject, and you may well be right. You have no idea what technical experience I have, what stories, knowledge or helpful inventiveness a total stranger may have to offer you, and you certainly are unlikely to win them round and discover these valuable assets, if an aggressive and dictatorial, know-it-all stance is adopted. I *love* contributing to technical resources - using my gifts to help other people is what I'm about, and I'll do 95% of it through sheer passion. If you kill an eager, burning passion stone dead by pouring scorn and cold water on it without politeness and understanding, then not only do you put the person off, but you also serve to highlight yourself as the kind of person people would generally avoid, and be reluctant to help at all, under any circumstances.
Being aggressive and unkind, shoots oneself in the foot. I shall focus on helping those who are honest, courteous and appear genuine, even if that is expressed by a simple "thank you" and nothing more. I won't be paying any mind to child-like elistism, as it is the most destructive, negative, utterly unproductive way to spend my life, wasting my energy on people who just sit around and bicker, merely for the sake of propping up an unstable ego.
If you can teach me, well that's why I am here. If you need anything from me, then do go ahead and ask, but please - just because you have free membership to a free forum and have registered here longer than me, don't assume you are "above" me, regardless of what amazing facts you know. I won't respond to egos, any more than I expect any of you would respond to me when I acted like an idiot last week.
Thanks for reading this guys, bless you!
