GMK Uniqey Keyboards: worth it?

Hi all,

I've been out of "Mecha Business" for a while and I am not up to date anymore, since I was pretty happy with my Quickfire Rapid TKL (MX-Black) + Cherry Double Shots + O-Rings.

Now I need a new KB. My wife is nagging, that I am "slamming down" on the keyboard and our firstborn does wake up the "noise". Cant imagine what she means. However that may be, I need a full size KB with a num-block (less gaming, more numbers these days), which needs to be quiet... or at least quieter.

I came across GMK Uniqey KBs (since I am looking for a German ISO mecha) and fell for that KBs instantly. The currently have a 20% off promo, which cuts the hefty price a little.

What do you guys think - are those KBs worth the price? Which MX-Switch would you recommend or a mix 70% writing/30% gaming (mostly FPS) in combination with the QMX-Clips, in order to get a quiet KB? Cant decide between Browns, Reds and Clears. MX-Blacks are fine for FPS for me, but especially after long texts, a bit of the fatigue is noticeable.

Thanks for your advice!

Cheers

Uniqey keyboards are pretty nice, from what I've seen. If I wanted a full-size keyboard to use stock, it'd be the keyboard I'd buy. The best part, for me, is the GMK caps being included, and ISO-DE to boot. It's more difficult to get GMK keycaps in ISO-DE (unless you want to get used Cherry caps, but those are used and don't have as much colour variety).

The price is a little high, but bear in mind that GMK keysets from group buys are typically 130-180 (!!) euro. With that in mind, the price is pretty reasonable.

I personally only really like linear MX, so in your case I'd go for MX reds with QMX clips. A nice touch with the Uniqey is that the switches are PCB-mounted, so if you got MX black and find it too heavy, you can order lighter springs quite cheaply and mod the switches in-place with no soldering.

If you find MX blacks too heavy, I probably wouldn't get MX clears. They come with heavier springs than MX blacks, though with the tactile bump it's not directly comparable.

Kekstee has a great video where he compares 55g MX blacks with and without QMX clips and the Zealencio clones, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edit: here's the comparison. keyboards-f2/quick-look-at-the-plate-mo ... 17179.html

Unfortunately these are the plate-mount versions so might not be exactly the same but should be comparable!

Thanks mate. I gave myself a little push and ordered one with MX-Browns with QMX-Clips.

From what I heard, the quality of the anodization and the materials overall is crazy good.
