Sadly it's a right handed world, if you want the leopold features and don't mind the ISO layout you could go for a cm storm quick fire rapid (as browns will eventually be in stock in Scan). This will give you detatchable usb, not sure on the LEDs but it's made in the same factory as Filco so it's simmilar with more features but you will probably want to replace the keycaps.MMTE wrote:Oh mighty Orcale, I beseech thee. Should I buy the Majestouch 2 TKL (£95 GBP delivered) or Leopold FC200R ($150 USD delivered)?
I prefer the LEDs on the Leopold, and I like the detachable USB cable, but some say Majestouch 2 is better to type on.
Additionally, is there an equivalent where the editing section (arrow keys etc) is on the left? I'm after Cherry brown switches.
Thank you
Otherwise, Filco they are hard not to like, heck I've bought one just because I can't easily get a cm storm with browns and ansi layout :\...

The Keyboard Oracle has decided: The redundant Oracle prefers Filco Majestouch over Leopold because of the better feeling big keys.

Hi Oracle,
I recently got the Unicomp Ultra Classic which I am very pleased with, but unfortunately it is not suitable for gaming — mainly fps such as xonotic & red eclipse and rts games such as planetary annihilation in the future.
What keyboards would you recommend that's preferably under $100 (im willing to go over if it's worth it), ten-keyless (don't need those buttons for gaming), very simple (don't want that backlit fancy shit), responsive, and well constructed?
Thanks,
Loafers

Yeah that seems like the best, if only, choice right now. The media inscribing on the keys is a bit of a turn off though.gorkypl wrote:I think I can feel what the Oracle thoughts: CM QuickFire Rapid

Nah its just the gateway drug for most people. The money spent on the CMQR could be put toward a nice set of PBT caps instead, if you already have more than two boards.

Searching for a medium/low profile, non-sculptured mechanical Keyboard, DE-Layout with linear keys (red or black). Something like the Cherry G80-3800
I'm using a Sidewinder X4 at the moment, i like the flat style for gaming.
Already tested QPad MK-80 + Zowie cele-thingy and didnt like the height of the key caps + sculpted design. After a hour of gaming with them, my wrists start hurting, even with a wrist rest, i guess its because of the sculpted design and/or large key caps (pressing shift/control/tab with the pinky kind of sucks with them). Typing was great though, i've got just problems while playing games.
Multimedia Keys + Backlit are welcome but not needed.
Edit:
After searching for like...weeks: I just need a Keyboard with g80-1800 style "flat" keycaps found the noppoo choc mini, but that's too custom (no standard layout) and no ISO layout. Any other keyboards with non-skyscraper-like keycaps?
EDIT2: Are there ANY mechanical keyboards with DSA FAMILY Keycaps?
http://www.keycapsdirect.com/images/key-caps/angle2.jpg
Even the Noppoo is angled/sculpted if you look closely. I really want something like the x4 sidewinder, just with mx switches: http://www.microsoft.com/germany/partne ... e_FY10.jpg

Varies – here's one with blues, probably complicated blue given the duller shade of blue. IIRC the ones with Windows keys had the simplified switches. I think you'll see simplified and complicated blues and whites …pasph wrote:Oh mysterious Oracle, the Focus FK 2001 has complicated or simplified white alps?

Dear mighty Keyboard Oracle,
I have recently made a profile on this forum after being a member on the other side for over a year. You have inspired my faith in this board to be superior to the orange and black evil so I shall put my faith in thee to answer my question.
I have a problem unlike many, for since I am a positive person, I like many keyboards I have tried. This has led me to the unique problem of liking nearly all the switches I have tried. I have tried blacks, reds, blues, browns, topre variable, and buckling springs. I disliked the buckling springs and while I did like the blacks, they were a bit too stiff for a daily driver. Right now I have a Filco Majestouch 1 with browns but I am getting a bit bored of using it. I want to try something I liked before but did not have the funds to use for a longer time. Therefore, I am unsure whether I should try out the Realforce EK Edition 45g or buy a Filco TKL with reds on Amazon seeing as the browns are not in stock at the moment. Overall, what should be the next switch I should use?
My right wrist has been feeling stiff as of late. I pray thee, keep thine information to be containing of tenkeyless keyboards.
One day I hope to have a Filco TKL of all types and feelings. To become the master of my domain, with a Realforce TKL at the head of my typing pleasure.

Hear me out, all-knowing Keyboard Oracle.
I have been using my Razer Black Widow Ultimate for a year now, and I seek to expand my horizons in the world of keyboards. I'm interested in obtaining a keyboard with either Black or Red Cherry MX switches. I was thinking about getting one the new Ducky Shine II keyboards, but I wanted to consult you first.
I am also still not sure about getting a full or compact keyboard. Could you recommend one of each?

Ha.
Few keyboards have a curved backplane – most use sculpted keycaps. You could choose your preferred row profile (probably the front row, to match the majority of the modifier keys) and buy a heap of single unit blanks and populate the keyboard that way. This is likely your only way to get a mechanical board with a staircase profile.
Obviously plenty of cheap keyboards (including all the chiclet/island desktop keyboards and the decent-for-a-dome Dell KB1421 keyboard with its low profile, full travel keys) have non-sculpted profiles, but you were asking for a mechanical, right? Right…?

thx for your help
mhh, sounds good, i've found some tipro's at german ebay. are all tipro's with cherry mx keys?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/TIPRO-Futuro-Kas ... 0803623438
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Kassentastatur-m ... 1011220176
the keys itself dont have to be all-flat, but the rows should be in the same line if you watch the keyboard from a sideview perspective.
btw, the new cherry g80-3800 looks perfect, flat, straight line, im really looking forward to the iso layout.

A keyboard with flat curve is the Data911 TG3... I have one and all keys are of the same profile and on the same plane. It's a sturdy mechanical compact keyboard with cherry MX blacks.
Alternatively, if you want to create a flat curve on a keybard you already have, just order a set of keys from WASDkeyboards.com but ask for all keys to be of the same profile. He should be able to do it, at least for all the letter/number keys.
