Pretty much optional just like € on E. I like the cleaner look without them...

Yes, µ on all modern boards and Alt Gr + M makes µ.

This is just wrong...
Would be useful if you could shed some more light on the issue instead of just saying it's wrong.
The stack of Norwegian keyboards I have here, all the way back to an eons old ThinkPad does not have µ on the keyboard.
The Windows 7 install I'm using on my main computer, set to Norwegian layout does not give µ with Alt Gr + M.
That's all I know from my personal experience.

All of my recent keyboards (back to around XP, maybe also 2000) has µ and windows 7 does give you µ by AltGr + M, you even get it by using the on-screen keyboard.

You basically came to the same conclusion on grouping as I did originally before running the poll where I discovered a lot of things didn't really have much support.

In XP, Bokmal [sic] + Norwegian layout, and Nynorsk + Norwegian with Sami layout, both give me µ. Windows 7 is the same, except by then they'd figured out how to type "å".

Check what layouts you're both using.

If we don't care about altgr the unique keys are way lower, but I don't know if it makes sense.
I would drop altgr legends. Anyone else? Maybe we could have a poll about this.

You serious? Look back at the lists given above … If you aren't going to bother with them, you may as well have blank keys.

Ok, I understand other languages have more altgr legends than italian. We've got only five, actually. I could live without them if that made GBs easier and cheaper.

there are symbols in altgr that are very important, I'd say let's keep 'em

I get µ when I press AltGr + M with Norwegian ISO layout and I know I'm not alone, I can remember several instances where it has produced µ on other computers in the past, so Norwegian ISO definitely has µ.
