M'er, if you're still here - are you in any way related to this new Unicomp announcement? The renders aren't quite the same but they feel similar to me.

I thought the "Unicomp announcement" was an April Fools joke ...

That would be a very bad joke and I would hate the sender for that.
If it's real, I wonder why the sender pick this date....

I wish this keyboard became a reality and not just a shitty Unicomp April Fools joke 4 years ago...
For some reason he deleted his account too!

There is a long and sad back story there.green-squid wrote: ↑

He bought up quite a few vintage Model Ms, cleaned and screw-reinforced them, had new cardboard boxes with styrofoam inserts fabricated, and started selling them at prices that hobbyists here and at GH deemed far too high.
Flame wars ensued and he let the criticism get under his skin, instead of just telling the flamers to fuck off and ignoring them. He deleted his accounts on both forums, waited a few weeks and came back to start over.
Rather than both sides being calm this time, pretty much the same thing happened all over again, and he left for good.
The thing is, he probably had the knowledge and resources to make something like the modern SSK happen, especially with the cooperation and assistance of the community.

I'd like to believe M'er is still kicking around here under a different name. Guy had some skills, he was in contact with Unicomp, and I'd like to believe something would have come of it.
People can be fucking toxic online, especially the keycap warriors who don't get the history of the domain.
My avatar here and over at GH is something he made. A modern SSK in the color style of an old green selectric.
