very close but I don't think it's the same keyboard. the function row seems different.

What kind of switches are these?
Image

As seen at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272268912810? ... 2268912810

Edit: Found it. wiki/SMK_Alps_mount. Wiki doesn't state 5161/5162 comes with these.

Montereys. Someone linked me to the auction recently. Probably the most sturdy board to ever come with them, then xD .

Is it Cherry?

Manufacturer is Strong and it's a rubber dome.

As far as I know Cherry never had BAE. Don't know what it is though.

What does BAE stand for?

It's got the Focus layout Oo .

The lock light sticker vaguely makes me think of Chicony, but it's nothing more than a vague guess. Does not look Cherry though.

it could be the Alps switch keyboard.

Oh hey I'm the one that won the bidding on that keyboard (Monterey Blue Chicony 5162), it took me ages to find which switches they are, I somehow stumbled upon them while looking through a Ripster imgur gallery about lesser known switches.

Montereys deserve much more recognition. A year ago I think they had a lot more exposure Oo . They're excellent switches though, among my favourites for sure.

Agreed. In fact even calling SMK Alps mount "Montereys" an Alps SKCM clone is quite an underestimation.

I'd say they're not clones at all. The contact system is completely different, closer to Cherry than to Alps if anything, and the clicker is totally different too. Besides, the pinout is incompatible, and they have a different footprint. They're just Alps-mount, that's about it xD .

I agree calling these Alps clones is definitely not doing them justice, as SMK, whether they intended to or not, made a really nice switch in these.

I love the blue "Monterey" SMKs. Also the white SMKs (MX-mount) are very nice, and get even less attention and respect than the blue "Montereys".

It is a shame that they all come mounted in crap cases and have incompatible pins so that they can't even be transplanted into something better.

BlueNalgene on GeekHack is working on a custom board that will support SMK. If he gets it past the initial stages I think we'll find that more people actually care about the switches.

It's nice that BlueNalgene is adding SMK support to his TK/TKLs.

I'd actually love to try clicky SMKs myself, just seems that the boards you'd find them on are relatively rare. I would be pretty happy to get my hands on a SIIG Minitouch or something.

I should know the answer but I don't and my Chicony 5181 is packed up tight in deep storage.

Do blue "Monterey" Alps-mount switches and white SMK MX-mount switches have the same pin layout?

Yeah, they are the same. So if you made a board with a decent layout you could use SMK with either Alps or MX keys.

Can someone tell me about this board? For a rubber dome it feels really great, especially the space bar is really nice.

Looks like a weird dome with slider variant. Not one that I know though.

I got a few USB and PS2 G80s, but one from the batch was a little different from the others.

Thought it was just some cosmetic sticker, but it's actually a lock soldered onto the controller. Haven't seen a G80 like this before. Here's the full album: https://imgur.com/a/aGFKr

Cherry MX compatible.

My best guess is sliders over rubberdome with some added springs. Topre light ;)

Pretty sure those stabilized keys are not MX compatible.

Does only the controller board have the GMK marking or also the switch matrix PCB ?

The one GMK made keyboard I have is the Skidata board and it has the most massive PCB I have ever seen in a vintage keyboard.
