Hello. Being new here thought to look around a bit before a post was in order
Now I have a better understanding of keyboards and how they are assembled. My question then is this:
Suppose that I wanted to build a keyboard: the layout of which was not standard QWERTY and for which its board would require a new design.
Keycaps and switches are a consideration also, but as far as I am aware, the board for this supposed layout does not currently exist anywhere,,,
What say you?
Also hello. Thank you.
How does one manufacture a board for a keyboard?

Might want to hop over to Geekhack and search for the thread on "The Phantom" which is pretty much a custom PCB/controller/plate package for a Filco tenkeyless. It's not actually in production... but seems to be an idea that's being kicked around. I don't pretend to know how to make this happen, but being that it would require both a custom PCB and a custom mounting plate for the switches, if you could pick the brains of the guys behind that project, that would give you an idea of what you're in for.
