Hiya guys, I just noted that NONE of the Models M I have left are second-gen. Could someone please do some measurements of one for me? I need them for a video.

Second gen is grey-badge models that don't have the rainbow plate, but the thick matte grey plate instead, such as most 1391401. The UK plant switched to grey plates later, so all the 1391406s I have left are rainbow plate.

Please use digital scales and calipers to measure them!

Could I have the following measurements please:

-total keyboard weight (minus cable)
-case weight (top plus bottom, no controllers, just the two PVC shell parts plus badge)
-plate thickness (should be between 1.0 and 1.2 mm, might take some wiggling to get a good measurement)

These are the weight measurements you requested, from my 1991 bolt-modded 1391405 model M from Greenock.

Keyboard weight without cable: 2017 grams.

Sure, if it can reliably give measurements, an analog one would work too . I guess the keyboard weight includes the bolts on your one?

Yes, the weight measurement includes bolts (x58), nuts (x50) and washers (x50).

The steel plate thickness is 1.0 mm. The same as my 3rd generation 1391405 from late 1992.
