Couple quick questions regarding Xwhatsit and QMK as well as solenoid/driver

So, I have an original Kishsaver (IBM F 4704 62 key variant), that I installed an Xwhatsit controller (Rev2 2014 with purple solder mask) in years ago. This particular keyboard has the original buzzer board and I got it running without issue using the IBM_capsense_utility.

Can I just flash a firmware from QMK over the top without issue? Or would I have to swap the controller for something else?

Also, can anyone confirm if the solenoids and drivers from ModelFkeyboards[.]com will physically fit in the case without modification and function with either firmware?

I think this pandrew QMK firmware should work with the original xwhatsit controller: http://35.164.28.200:5000/#/xwhatsit/ib ... UT_default

With that firmware I believe you need to adjust the solenoid dwell time as described in the Model F project manual; otherwise the solenoid will not function well. The default setting was too low for the project's solenoid.

I did get QMK working, and as you mentioned, the solenoid barely works. It does fire, but not enough to fully compress the return spring. The manual you are referring to, is that the one at the site where I ordered the solenoid and driver? Also, one suggestion, don't ship the solenoid and driver in the same bag without any separation please.

To reiterate, the solenoid will barely work unless you properly set the dwell time. I also recommend fully extending the solenoid L bracket, as detailed in the manual. The manual is on the new Model F project web site.
