There seems to be a trend with recent mouse releases where manufacturers are using optical switches at least for the main buttons.
I personally don't like this because 1) optical switches don't feel as good as mechanical switches, and 2) we're pretty much stuck with the switch they're using. There is no option for us users to mod/replace the switches with what we actually want to use.
I've been using the Burst Pro for a while then I switched back to my O- and realized how awful the switches are. It's like using a really bad pair of headphones for a long time then switching to a good pair.
It sucks because some of these mice have very good shapes and sensors (Viper, MM720, Burst Pro) but these good things are kinda ruined by the awful switch choice.
Thoughts?
