What a relief!
:-)

I like when they log in, pm the bot and log off again.
:evilgeek:

But those people hanging around here, is too much for my nerves!

I bet the real problem is all those giant avies and lengthy sigs. Too much weight on the erase head. Can't fit it all in 640 KB. Swap is the devil!

Someone fine-tuned that cassette player in an attempt to load a bad cassette, and do you know how hard it is to tune it exactly back to its original setting?

Yup. I've complained several times (when prompted) about what I don't like about GH's visual format and particular culture. I'm happy DT exists and is just the way I like it.

You know, this makes me wonder if I can hook a R2R to my 5150 or VIC-20 or whatnot. Questions, questions, questions.

Exactly. We're lucky to have both forums. Most of the time…

That wasn't a maintenance downtime, just FYI. Someone at the datacenter screwed up I guess.

Sure, why not ... just turn off Dolby and other compression methods. 8-)

Useless trivia lesson:
Reel-to-reel, by the way, beats MP3 when it comes to storing audio-encoded digital data. MP3 introduces artefacts that may render the recording unusable (i.e., it can't be restored to the device because of the mangled audio stream).

I wonder if they have one at TNMOC (they have a straight 8). I'll take my colour ring.

Here is what you need: a 5 meg hard drive, circa 1956.

I've seen the platters on one of those spin up at the CHM in Mountain View. Surprisingly quiet.
