Y NO model M bolt mod article?

I've just created this as a stub, as I was amazed to find that it did not exist:

I thought mods were only to be posted in the workshop forum and not in the wiki - mainly because everyone could start creating pages like "YYY's Bolt mod" and "XXX's nuts and bolts".

It's such a common term though that it shouldn't hurt to have the page, it can still link to relevant threads in the workshop forum or elsewhere.

Normally, I would agree with you. I don't think mods have any place on the Deskthority wiki. That, said, there's a whole section of the wiki devoted to modding:

However, the bolt mod is not a mod in the usual sense (improvement or aesthetic change) — it's a standard repair procedure to combat a deficiency in the original design. I always thought "bolt mod" was some sort of frivolous change, before I learnt what it actually meant. That is the sort of information that I feel really does belong on the wiki.

Indeed. I'm of the opinion the Wiki can have the whole gamut, all the way to Brobots, so long as it's kept organised sensibly. But, in any case, the bolt mod is more of a restoration technique than its name implies.

Ok, I re-read the wiki thread and it turns out it was merely a suggestion by sixty:

Btw, we will have to decide what type of content we put in the wiki and what type of content we rather keep on the board. My suggestion is anything remotely close to a guide should be in the Workshop section, while the wiki only is home to real information.

I think (new) mods should start in workshop, and when they stabilize, get a wiki entry which references to the topic, like JBert suggested. Something similar thing for old, common mods. Although whether the mod in the wiki should be only an overview and leaves the details to the forum topic, or provides a detailed step-by-step guide, I'd leave to the person(s) who write the forum topic and/or wiki entry. The forum provides better means for discussion and additional insights, but the wiki might provide better tools to get into detail, with less noise.

IMO the more information is in the wiki, the more it will be used, which is a good thing

Sure, just be aware that you don't own anything in the wiki, i.e. people might change it or add to it.

oh i most definitely don't - i didn't even have the original idea to those keycap pullers - it's just that i thought that if there was a really cheap alternative to those mentioned there it should also be in the list

(I found that photo by accident last night when researching the Monterey K104 and K108. I wasn't even sure whether it was real, Photoshopped, or hacksawed. It seems to be completely real.)
