Switch Naming Proposition #1 - Maxi/SMK/NEC/Wong Linear

So I'm going through my collection, and I'm noticing a bunch of switches have "undecided" names. Therefore it's time to come up with names.
I'll be applying engineering naming here, so things like Fried Chicken will become "Hot Dead Bird".

First off, the Maxi/SMK/NEC/Wong Linear switch -> http://deskthority.net/wiki/SMK_vintage_linear

My proposed name is <company> Ribbed Flange Switch. So, the pic above would be a Maxi Switch Ribbed Flange Switch.
In the case of any tactile or clicky switches that can be added in such as Wong Ribbed Flange Tactile Switch. Labeling switches as linear in this case is not necessary because the majority of switches are linear (and thus extraneous).

Thoughts?

(This doesn't solve the lineage, but it is clear there are at least "branding" differences between each of the switches that are nearly identical)

That name sounds faintly dirty to me …

BTW, what is a ribbed flange? I presume it's something that SMK dropped from the design of the SMK second generation? (Maybe you're referring to the static contact, which turned into a piece of wire in 2nd gen.)

I'm trying to come up with a name describing the contact mechanism, that doesn't universally describe a variety of switches so it's clear that someone is talking about this family of switches.

Do you have any pics for the 2nd Gen? Perhaps a similarity can be found/described.

Interesting.

How about SMK Ribbed Contact Switch?
And since there's the a next in series for the SMK (at least), SMK Ribbed Contact Gen. 1. or SMK Ribbed Contact Type 1

I've used the Gen. label for the Fujitsu Leaf Spring switches as there is a clear evolution. Type has been used in the ITW Magnetic Valve Switches as the slider designs are very different, but the "contact method" is the same.

For NEC/Wong/Maxi I think the Gen. or Type can be omitted (unless/until another version is found; not including things like locking/tactile switches).

I'm in no rush to rename it. The only switches that bother me are the different "low-profile" Alps switches of different profiles.
