Ugh...those purple keycaps are mad. Joker style. They almost look fake.

That one that you posted is from an IBM 5251 terminal, which speaks a different language from the IBM 3277/78/79 ones. 5251s were attached to mid-range computers, instead of the mainframes that the 3270 family supported. It is called a "data entry" layout because it is modelled after a IBM 029 keypunch, which punched holes into cards that the computer read. This procedure was common before booting from tape/disk became common and for storing large amounts of information. It is in contrast with a "typewriter" keyboard. The rationale is that many people were expressly trained to use the 029 proficiently, so a specific layout had to be made for their convenience; these people were separate from people who used typewriters (secretaries).

Right, sold for "only" $1000. But of course that's not the space cadet.

I hate to admit it, but I procrastinated for 19 months on this purchase…

I know it's not very exotic but I've just got a Cherry MX-Board 3.0 with red switches, and I'm really surprised how nice this thing is. It's great to type on, and I was unsure whether I'd like the shorter travel but it's actually really pleasing and I think it helps me to type a bit faster. It looks pretty decent too, if you like that sort of thing. Cherry red switches are also pretty nice.
Like I said, I know this isn't exactly an exciting vintage keyboard or custom build or anything like that, but I was quite surprised by how much I've liked this keyboard and felt the need to share these thoughts somewhere. I've told my wife but she's not that bothered!![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Recent eBay acquisition. I didn't need another Model M but I really wanted these key caps and I was able to get a discount from the seller. I might resell this board with the vanilla key caps.

I grabbed this little curiosity at a secondhand market today; it's a working Commodore 798D calculator from the 1970s. Apparently it's not a particularly collectible model in the world of vintage calculators, but for roughly €4 it was a good find for my ever growing Wunderkammer of vintage/retro technology.

AGREED.
The Model-M style that should of had that beautiful BIG Enter key is very enticing

Such a looker should always be kept close to your heart and be used as often as possible.
