Yes, I did own a Mini Ergo. As you say, the layout / ergonomics weren't perfect, but what killed it for me was its mind-boggling PIIIIING!! Still, I love it's nineties scifi movie look and think it's definitely one of the sexiest beige keyboards in existence, hence my avatar pic.

The ping is incredibly loud. I actually like the ping in the F XT, but the Mini Ergo is a bit obnoxious. I'm a sucker for old ergo boards so I don't see mine going anywhere anytime soon, but... yeah, the ping is maddening and the plate design means that lubing it would be a pain too.
