You can attain a grip by using Mouse Tape which there are a huge variety, giving you various textures for your liking and can easily be applied to your 'Knob'.
You don't like compacted 1800 layouts, which I adore.
Not bad keyboard, but it sounds like some kind of membrane like keyboard. If you don't hear the 'Click' it aint a decent keyboard.

I mostly liked the compact layout for my small desk in one of the outlet sections of my home.
