Arrrgh!
How much of a price increase are we talking about? How many more caps do we need to buy ?!?
I just found a new kit that wasn't there before (the grey numrow with a R1 equal - finally the filco numpad can be properly equipped ) so I don't mind ordering more, but after this I'm really done.

Hey, how about investing the collecting money into something while we're waiting? Ideally, the problem solves itself that way...

I believe it is split up among the collectors, waiting for invoicing from SP.
Seriously shitty shifty move on their part, hiking at the end. We were ready to go into production months ago and waited for them on 2 unit row 1 BACKSPACE. Grr!
What's the price hike look like in % anyway?

The problem is that tools and new legends cost less and key caps production costs more.
This results in higher import tax.
I hope that is clear enough.
We collected way more money to pay for production than it is actually needed, including shipping to and from me.
One solution is to order more (prices will get down), pay and let them produce. Then, wait until enough had been sold to pay for customs fees, so the order can be shipped.

Keycaps: just as coveted as blood diamonds and the purest drugs. Anyone got a boat? Going the mule route is not my preference. How would they ever fit a TKL worth up there?

We could smuggle them in Banana boxes, so we will pay only 7% and all will be good!
Seriously:
The whole thing is off by around $15-20 per order (~300 orders).

Also, although I am sure I'm not fully grasping what's possible or full amount of work required, but I am in the US so no import tax, if it would be possible to offload some of the processing to me. I can hear 7bit laughing (evilly) already:)7bit wrote:The problem is that tools and new legends cost less and key caps production costs more.

The world is the wrong way round!
If SP and GMK would swap their places, everything would be good.
BTW:
You would need to sort ~100,000 keys into 412 kits. There are 1357 different kinds of key caps.
What about the shipping costs?

So they're not making more money out of it? Ask them to change it back!7bit wrote:No, just shifted, compared to last time.
As far as ordering more keycaps goes, I can't spend any more until I've started my new job. If this group buy is still going on in August I'll pick up some more kits

How much extra are we talking per order? You might find many here are happy to pay the difference to get things moving right away.
Equally, you could offer a special keycap for $X that covers some of the cost.
Just throwing out ideas here!

I posted it already: $15-$20.
I'm waiting for a new price quote for a more production-friendly order. This means for overrun at my side and smaller grab bags at SP's side. Let's see if that would work out.
