In R2 a 1.75 Control in the RGB And maybe a SUN Microsystems logo in the Nerdom KIT I have a certain keyboard in mind for this
..and Ă, Â, Î,Ș,Ț would be geeky but I guess not many people will want these.

and also some nice windows logo like you did for midnight set...matt3o wrote:I believe I received one PM each day since the GB closed. All of them asking for a round 2.
I'm pretty much convinced that we need more granite.
What I'm thinking for round 2:
1) some revised symbols
2) new nerdom kit
3) a UK kit alone
4) no blanks
5) maybe a full ergodox kit (so you don't have to buy base kit + ergodox)
6) no orange nor yellow

I finally got the Granite, I still miss the international legends, but what I have is simply CAPSTASTIC!
The print resolution is better than I expected and the legends are all perfect in both thickness and position. I totally love this set. It is great to type on and to see.
Some pictures, I'll post more later together with some comments (and very few teeeny weeeny issues)
The box is HUGE
A load of plastic
On the best keyboard ever!

Indeed the cyrillic set looks really nice.
So, overall the set is fantastic, with few very little problems. The kitty-cap is a bit too complicated, I had to make the legend as large as possible and it didn't turned out as cute as I wanted, but it's nice nonetheless. Same goes for the cherry MX switch from top. Too complex graphics don't come very well (noted for the next time).
Everything else is perfect. The legends are well sized and thickness is good. Legends alignment is good overall but I'd say 1 over 50 legend is slightly shifted on a side (not my fault but due to the sublimation process).
Anyway the legend definition is really good and as I already said better than I expected. To me this is the definitive DSA white/gray set.

Supposedly, SP can do Alps mounts just as well as MX. But the tricky part is convincing them to bother.
As already the most complex, successful GB of 2014, I think we should be pleased with what we've got. I'd love Alps caps this good, and I know Matteo is into making Matias switch custom keyboards too. But who else would be with us? Compared to a Round 2 of MX?
I wonder, what would it take to run any Alps mount GB through PMK?

Okay, let's try the inverse. Any idea what Alps mount stuff they can do? All ABS? Just certain families of ABS? Or just particular sizes of certain families of ABS?
Because if there's enough to cover a keyboard, I think it's about time we did a good GB for it.

Last time I asked they missed a couple of big keys (2.75 ans 2.25 I seem to recall). They can do both DCS and DSA in ABS. The problem are the stabilizers, making any set good only for custom keyboards basically. That's fine by me, but not for the rest of the world (and very few others).

Right, so Alps centre mounts but MX stabs. And therefore custom keyboards only.
That would be fine for me, too, and a handful of people who are talking about Matias builds on the forum. Perhaps there's enough more of us out there to be worth an IC.

yes, I guess we just need to reach the 50 tier. Probably feasible.Muirium wrote:Right, so Alps centre mounts but MX stabs. And therefore custom keyboards only.

How about space bars?
If we get an authoritative list of what they can do in "Alps Custom" (hybrid) mount, we could see about designing our way around the missing sizes.
Probably a good idea to keep an open mind re: DCS and DSA rather than ruling anything out too soon.
