Going through the kit designs in my head. I feel like this would be a great time to offer some short space bars for split keyboard designs!
Any input on that?

They will not be in great demand, I fear,
but 4u spacebars would be perfect for all staggered Tipro keyboards

Short spacebars for split keyboards would be great! I'd also like a 4u spacebar for any custom small-form-factor keyboard in the future. Them working on a Tipro would be great too (then I'd probably have to buy a Tipro too )...

I think the best way to split it would be in 3 parts with a small FN in the middle so 2.25/1.25/2.75 or 2.75/1.5/2.75 so you can do all the combo's with your left hand and keep the right one on the mouse.

This is what I had in mind as a "Space Bar Kit" MINUS THE 7U!
There are enought 7U space bars out there in this colors:
I like the idea of adding a 4u space bar, 3u is something I have never seen before (@matt3o) ...
Mist existing split space bar designs make use of the 2.75u and 2.25u shift keys ... those are essentials in the kit.

What about a WoB DT Esc keycap ? Last round I bought a set only for the DT cap, and in the beige color I never use. I would be all over a WoB DT

Just saying this is a very, very uncommon keycap size. Nearly impossible to find keycaps for that ...
With split space bars adding a lot more variety to bottom rows, I would love to see some "standard" dimensions for split slace bars and I believe the current common variant it 2.75 & 2.25

1. I'd say that 6.25u could be safely left out of the kit under the same argument.Wodan wrote: ↑This is what I had in mind as a "Space Bar Kit" MINUS THE 7U!

2. What colors are you considering? I hope that the essential beige is included.
P.D.: Please do not forget to include diamonds in A and B profiles of 1, 1.25 and 1.5 units.

That's what the Filco Minila uses, someone definitely has molds since you can find them on taobao: https://www.bhiner.com/taobao-agent/540292005777Wodan wrote: ↑I like the idea of adding a 4u space bar, 3u is something I have never seen before
I could see two of them replacing a 6.25 spacebar, the .25u gap could probably be taken care of one way or another.

3u spacebars are common on (part-staggered) Access-IS keyboards,
where the switch is in the middle and each stabilizer exactly 1u from the middle
(allowing the spacebar to also fit 3 switches in a matrix keyboard).
Their profile is that of a classic Cherry spacebar,
and they exist in both beige and black:

If I remember correctly, Access-IS boards have Devlin keycaps, so perhaps that could be a source.

As for 4u spacebars, the original Tipro spacebars (which again exist in beige and black) are quite flat, which at least for me is optically not the ideal solution.
In Round4 7bit offered Tipro replacement spacebars, but they were in SA profile, i.e. too high, and in dark grey only.
For my daily driver I bought (for much too much money ) a Posiflex POS keyboard featuring a beige 4u spacebar,
which I then somewhat satisfactorily modded. It has a symmetrical design, though, in the sense that it has no slope:
What I would love is a 4u spacebar with the usual Cherry profile and stems fitting for Tipro boards (switch in the middle and each stabiliser 1.5 u from the middle, i.e. stab stems distant exactly 3u from each other and switch stem in the middle of them - you can also put the spacebar on 4 switches of a matrix keyboard, it will sit on the outer switches and the middle stem will neatly plunge between the middle switches).

The 6.25u space bar is probably the most sought after one. The great majority of Classic Beige keycap sets came with a 7u or 6u space bar ... the ones that came with a 6.25u space bar have the ugly off-center keycap stem ...ideus wrote: ↑1. Anything I discuss here is for classig beige. Space bars will be HAD-alpha color ...
Rearding the split space bar options, I am not fond of a 3u space bar. 4U as a halfway-common occurence on staggered tipros might make it into the kit. I'm curious what matt3o works out for the split-fox as well.
2.25u, 2u and 2.75u are in for sure though, that's very common keycaps (as shift and numpad0) currently used in split layouts.

Bluetooth? Rather looks like redtooth
What I mean is of course a simple spacebar assembly, just plastics.

In a bit more serious tone, you are totally right about the need for "universal" 6.25 space bars.

Really looking forward to this. A quick question: will you consider doing a moogle kit with legends instead of icon mods Wodan?
