Must say that I'm quite impressed by the Alps switches and wonder how to use them in a prototype - does anybody know the cutout dimensions for plate-mounting? Can't yet figure out the intended use of all the flaps and nooks on their case.
Another thing that puzzles me: Only one of the three MX whites clicks like the greens (hard to notice a difference at all there) but the other two are almost silent - any idea why?

MX whites are meant to be very quiet clickers. Your loud one is the odd one out! I prefer their feel to MX brown or clear, as they have a different mechanism, so there is a reason for quiet clicky switches to exist. And loud ones too!
As for Matias switches: Matt knows. I'm leaning towards a Matias build this year, because those damped switches are so refreshing. Perhaps even with clickers…

Please don't spread the truth about whites. I still have 1000s of them!!!
They look great and some click more and others less. I also don't like blues. In fact, the real clicky Cherry switch is the MXGREEN, but then Alps are so much better clicking, not mentioning buckling springs or certain Keytronic switches ...

If I wanted more than your current stock of plate-mount Clears (70, to be exact), how long would it take to get more in stock?

Yeah, the wiki is wrong because I only recently discovered that they are not M7 but M5:jabar wrote:what is M5/M8/M9. the wiki is lacking on some of these.
M8 are the switches Robin will send via Muirium to me.
Here are M9:

"M5" is a mystery. Whatever it was, it's not in the 1973, 1974 or 1982 catalogues. I remain unconvinced that "M5" is not a mistake on someone's part. It's possible that Cherry unexpectedly went backwards in their numbering at some stage, or that these switches are from 1972 or earlier. If they're from pre-1973, why did the cruciform mount vanish from the catalogues? It's not an option in 1973 or 1974, but it was in 1984, suggesting a backwards step in numbering.
I'll check with ZF and just see if it rings a bell with anyone.

I think you make a big mistake if you think of a succcession in product numbers. This is not necessarily the case.
Also: It might be possible that the + variant is indeed from before that time but did not make it into the catalogues because it was a special order from some keyboard manufacturer. Not everything that is produced appears in any catalogues. Maybe HaaTa has more information on where these switches appear and from what time they are?
