Is this 6 unit DSC space bar center stemmend, so it would fit on iOne keyboards like the ones from Qpad?

Great job about the ordering form
It would be super to see the missing quantities until next price tier for each item, like "3 missing until next tier : $23.12".

I like the new additional data on the GB status page. Is 'Kits' counting the individual blank keys? I'm not sure how you'd show that otherwise, but it does feel like it skews the numbers a bit. How about counting the total number of keys... so 58 for each 'Alpha' kit, 51 for the TKL Coffee, 52 for the TKL Plum... etc..
Not that any of it is necessary, but it gives me something to obsess over
Orders: 87 | Kits: 2537 | Value: $17,051.13

Well, is the 6 unit DSC space bar we're getting center stemmed? I think if it is, it should fit.matt3o wrote:hope 7bit or some of the gurus could help you on that. have a look in the wiki.
I made a photo of the space bar from my Qpad. The measurements maybe aren't accurate, but the stem is definitely in the center:
(you can click on the photo to enhance it)
I never saw any other 6 unit space bars that were done in other group buys, so this is maybe the only chance to replace all of the keycaps on my Qpad

yeah, you are right, maybe I should just remove the blanks from the count.regack wrote:Is 'Kits' counting the individual blank keys? I'm not sure how you'd show that otherwise, but it does feel like it skews the numbers a bit.

# of Kits (no blanks)
# of Keys (blanks + count of all keys in each kit)
Avg # of keys per participant
Median # of kits purchased
# of blanks vs printed caps
none of it is useful, but it's interesting? I'm sure you have more important things to do...

BREAKING NEWS!
Fasten your belts because this is going to blow your guts all over your keyboards.
Signature Plastics just contacted me and informed that they actually have 6.2 units and 7 units spacebars in DSA family (contrary to what they originally said)! Now I just have to understand what kind of mount points they have.
This is what they say about mount points:

This is what they say about mount points:
Not the most universal space bars ever, but still...The 6.2 unit spacebar has fixed spacing with a center mount and 2 outboard mounts positioned 1.976" from the center mount. The 7 unit spacebar also has fixed mount positions with a center mount and 2 outboard mounts positioned 2.245" from the center mount.

Regarding support for different language sets, what about just making keys with one legend on. That way it would greatly reduce the amount of keys needed to satisfy all language sets. It also looks great with such large centered legends and then only have the main layer on all keys (dumbing shift and alt gr layers)
Whether or not SP is able to do this I don't know.

If I did the math well this is what we have in DSA:
6 units, 3 stems, 40mm
6.2 units, 3 stems, 50mm
7 untis, 3 stems, 57mm
SO
The group buy is probably going to have:
DSA 6
DCS 6
DSA 6.2
DCS 6.2 Universal
DSA 7
6 units, 3 stems, 40mm
6.2 units, 3 stems, 50mm
7 untis, 3 stems, 57mm

DCS 6
DSA 6.2
DCS 6.2 Universal
DSA 7

6.2 units 50mm is Filco style. 40mm is what the inner stems on a SP space bar have.
My NEO has 6,25 units, centered stem plus 44mm to the outer stems. Don't know if this is common with any other keyboard around or something special for that one (maybe Leopold style?)
Is a space bar with that distance possible? That one on the NEO is really interesting, 2 of the 3 stems at a side are merged together because of the low distance (40mm and 44mm).
Theres a picture in the thread I linked earlier. Sorry that I can't link the picture directly (CB forum software doesn't support this)

Easy Math 101
we have 43 TKL kit at 25 tier for a total of 3239.62 or 75.34 per person.
next tier would be at 50 for a cost of 51.82 for a total of 2591.00. That divided by 43 equals to 60.25 per person.
So basically we can buy them at 50 tier save 15 bucks and we would also have 7 full spare kits.

Well, it is only 24 hours... but that sounds like a good plan. I ordered an ISO kit, even though I don't use it, just to push it over the 25 tier... maybe I'm weird.matt3o wrote:Easy Math 101

Is it truly a 6.2 units space bar? Shouldn't it be 6.25 units? That's a 3/80 inch difference...matt3o wrote:Signature Plastics just contacted me and informed that they actually have 6.2 units and 7 units spacebars in DSA family

SP never ever referenced the spacebars as 6.25, always as 6.2. The DCS Universal is spec'ed at 6.2 not 6.25 same as DSA.Kurrk wrote:Is it truly a 6.2 units space bar? Shouldn't it be 6.25 units? Important Update about Spacebars!
Signature Plastics initially said that they couldn't provide DSA spacebars, but they contacted me back saying that they actually have them! This is a great news because we can have a 100% DSA keyboards (except for the ISO and left stem keys).
I've just updated the order form with the new space bars. I'm not going to automatically switch your DCS spacebars to DSA because the DCS ones might still be needed for certain keyboards.
This is how it works
I would recommend taking a couple of spacebars in different families (it's 2 bucks at high tiers). This would save you unpleasant surprises! Anyway we will be taking some spares, just in case.
Head to the order form and update your order.
If you don't remember your order ID you can simply send a new order with the same username and the same forum. The previous order will be overwritten. If you really need to recover your previous order, send me a PM.

- 6 units DSA: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 40mm from center. This is a very peculiar spacebar, suitable for custom keyboards only.
- 6.2 units DSA: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 50mm from center. This has the standard Filco and the like mounting position.
- 7 units DSA: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 57mm from center. This is mainly for winkeyless.
- 6 units DCS: 3 mount points. This should be the Cherry G80-xxxx spacebar, PLEASE CONFIRM.
- 6.25 units Universal DCS: This is the universal Signature Plastics 6 mount points space bar. This should fit most of the keyboards out there
- 7 units DCS: 3 mount points. 1 centered, 2 at 57mm from center. There's no reason to get this spacebar anymore being the 7u DSA a perfect alternative.

I found out that those PCBs with clear switches which Ascaii found require an 8 units space bar with 3 key mounts, one center and two 3.5 units apart from the center.
And I own an NCR keyboard which works with a PC but its key caps are yellowed as hell which requires a 10 units space bar.
