Model Fs are good and battleships are even better, but I dont personally think what is essentially a TKL F122 is worth that much.nivloM droL wrote: Is the Unsaver worth $1,000 plus?

Yea, they are APL caps. Im one of the self described "computer people" aka general technophile (both modern and retro), and those caps would be really nice to have, but I dont think they are worth attaining via a ~$1000+ board. I would probably shell out upwards of around $100 just for the caps but anything over $250-$300 for the board itself is pushing the limits of my self justification; even if it is for a Model F. And only then it would have to be for a F122 and not the TKL version.Chyros wrote:It's also got the weird caps on them, are these the ones the computer people / programmer dudes like so much? It is my understanding that Unicomp will sell a set of caps, although they are probably not listed in the catalog. They have a lot of stuff available but you have to make a phone call to a living person to find out. And, in my opinion, Unicomp printing is not always as bad as some people indicate, although I did buy a set of green-printed caps a couple of years ago that were atrocious.

Unicomp lists their APL set for $35 + shipping which includes a entire set of keys for a keyboard excluding the spacebar. I bought this set and it's a good value and all but the quality does not compare to the vintage APL key caps that some of these F104's have. The unicomp's have faint orange printing and of course the font is different. The APL keys found on these F104's I would say are a vibrant blood orange color with bold, black lettering (XT/AT quality). IBM also sold a set which went with Model M's which were quite nice, but not as vibrant. Basically vintage F104 APL set > vintage IBM Model M APL set > Unicomp APL set.
F104 APL Vs. Unicomp Vintage Model M APL set

I'm actually from the EU
. I occasionally check the local thrift shop for IBM Model M keyboards, since I'd really want one but don't want to pay the premium price people are asking for them here. When I saw that this was a Cherry keyboard with ANSI layout I decided to buy it. I'm quite surprised that the MX blacks feel lighter on this keyboard than some others I've tried.

Can I get a price check on a NIB G81-1900HSF? The box has some wear, but it has the original manual and the board has never been used.

What is a typical price for model ms? I'm looking to buy one as a gift, and noticed there aren't many below 100 USD including shipping on eBay.
