Hello!

I recently obtained IBM Model M Industrial 1987, that has one a missing badge, a few keycaps and dusty as hell. What I've done to the keyboard, I do screw mod to it. Also I make sublimation printing on the aluminum plate (A4 size, 0.4mm thick) to mimic the original IBM black badge (I happened to have sublimation printing and heat press machine at my office, so its an easy DIY for me). And also, I dye the keycap with Dylon dye by using "KingFisher" Blue.

What do you guys think? Cheers.

Excellent model M cleaning and restoration job.

Industrial gray model M keyboards with the black badge with silver IBM logo looks particularly awesome.

May your 31-year old keyboard (2018-1987) have yet another 3 decades of life to look forward to.

Unfortunately this one doesn't come with the shiny rainbow backplate.

Very nice indeed!

How did you make your black badge and did you start out with white keycaps prior to dyeing blue, or were they pebble?

The process of making the black badge, I started with A4 aluminum sheets which is pre-treated for sublimation printing. I use sublimation printer and heat press machine to achieve the printing. I use Ai Vector from the Google to draft and compare the size of the badge and IBM logo with the original silver badge Model M that I have. I experiment the printing with different black intensity, so I choose what shade that I think its the right shade for the keyboard.

About the Dyeing keycap blue, I started the cap with pebble, not white.

The restoration, the black badges, the shirts... just beautiful. If you ever decided to do a GB on here for either I'd def be in for a few.

I had a similar idea as well but didn't have easy access to the equipment. I would be in for a couple as well. I want to paint an AT in an industrial gray color and a black badge would really tie the look together. Also those blue keys look wonderful. This would be great for XT or AT badges as well.

I'd love one of those shirts. I like how the Model M on the grey one looks like a "Before" restoration picture.

Hello, PM'd you wonder if you have any of the black square repro badges available for my project? PM back if so and we can arrange payment and shipping. Thanks
