After around 3 years of trying to buy an Unsaver, I finally got one...
Sadly it didn't survive the trip from England to GER very well...
If you look close, you see that even the metal under the plastic is bend.

I have given up BS keyboards earlier in my life, but it hurts me to see keyboards being damaged during shipment.
Sometimes even the keyboards were originally well packed, the people at custom may inspect the content without packing them well again afterwards. Some putty, epoxy, acetone may save the shell.
Probably can get some extra caps somewhere else too after a nice cleaning treatment.

1 year and a few months waiting going strong... hoping it doesn't turn in to 3 years like you :0 Anyway, glad you finally got one! I can only sit here and be jealous...

Argh! At least you seem to have found some to put on there! Are you going to keep it?

I'm currently using the keycaps from my SSK (main cluster + nav) and additional keycaps from a M122.elecplus wrote: ↑Argh! At least you seem to have found some to put on there! Are you going to keep it?
About keeping it... I'm not sure... I kind of get mad and sad at the same time when I see the crushed corner. Will see how it feels the next weeks and then decide. But typing on it already feels very good. I cleaned everything and happily the foam was in good condition. Also my first experience with soarers converter. Directly soldered it internal.
Will maybe take some better pics soon.

I tested it with an Orihalcon cable, worked fine. Glad you had some caps there on hand!

Well if you ever plan on selling it, count me in (although I'd give it a new paint job and repair the cracked areas of the plastic with some filler and sanding). Well actually all of the old paint would have to be sanded off but I've done it before.snoopy wrote: ↑About keeping it... I'm not sure... Shame about the crack, at least it looks relatively minor. I still need a new top for my F122, it has a pretty major crack that's not going to be easy to repair seamlessly

A first-gen M-122 top shell can be modded with some minor Dremel work and probably be better in the long term.Norman_ wrote: ↑Shame about the crack, at least it looks relatively minor. I still need a new top for my F122, it has a pretty major crack that's not going to be easy to repair seamlessly

Congrats!!!
IBM cases can usually be repaired rather well with epoxy, which can also look fine after sanding and painting -- if you don't mind painting, thus departing from the vintage purity of the original. As one who paints vintage cases with disregard for tradition, I would not cast stones at you.

great board. I used one on a 3290 terminal for many years. Running batch jobs like that neat little note you have on yours
Now I have the F122 battleship because I love my numpad but I would certainly not pass on picking an unsaver up if I ever find one. congrats

haha. nicely spotted.depletedvespene wrote: ↑01 Mar 2019, 01:01Woah, today it's this keyboard's birthday. Go give it the hug it deserves.
sadly it didn't get much attention within the last year, cause it is just a bit too big for my desk. So, it has been on my attic for quite some time. Yeah, I know, I'm evil...

Give me that unsaver! I'll put it to good use, and pamper it and pimp it with dashing, dashing OG APL keycaps.
