Oh, that's where I know the board from... I remembered seeing one a long time ago. Great find, I guess it took a long time to track it down. Nice one I'm always thrilled when I see a vintage Cherry board that is not "classic beige" , sorry but I'm drawn to the dark side

Seebart yours contends very well! That board is an absolute beauty. I actually would have bought it if it weren't for the missing key and my OCD!
Thanks guys. Like I wrote in my Pertec thread these Micro Switch doubleshots are different with that texture to all my other Micro Switch doubleshots that are glossy, other than that the keycaps are identical. Yeah the layout is strange Khers, I'm not sure if Pertec went their own way or this being from 1978 is simply pre layout standard.Khers wrote: ↑Wow, that is quite some stuff to come back to, photekq. Amazing.
And the texture on the caps on your board, seebart, is simply stunning! Interesting to see that it is a German layout keyboard, but qwerty, rather than qwertz, and I do have a soft spot for those mods.

Beautiful IBMs ramnes. I need one of the Japanese SSKs!
Not sure how I feel about these switches.. They're quite nice, but not all that I expected they'd be.

Yep, they're unfortunately way overhyped. Don't get me wrong -- they're probably the best clicky discrete switch that I've used (not that that's difficult, given the weak competition) -- but they're definitely not what they're hyped up to be.

Really? I honestly can't stand any MX blues, though I don't know what qualifies as "vintage" and how exactly they differ. Their high-pitched rattle is like a swarm of locusts or banging your fingers on eggshells, and they're not even very tactile to boot. I think I'd like them if the tactile slider part was more like MX clears than browns, since the tactility is where blue Alps wins massively.

Nice If you use 1.8mm LED you can mount them inside the switch and if you have some milky tops like the Nixies have the effect is really cool. And the best part is that you can remove the switch top without messing with the LED's.

Hmm, interesting, do you have a picture of that effect? Though, I'm using SIP sockets here, so I would have to remove the tops each time I want to change the LED if I were using 1.8mm ones, right? And I'm not even sure SIP sockets and 1.8mm LEDs could fit together under the top...DanielT wrote: ↑Nice If you use 1.8mm LED you can mount them inside the switch and if you have some milky tops like the Nixies have the effect is really cool. I will take a picture on my board. I don't like SIP sockets, in fact this is why I'm mounting the LED's inside the switch, I want to able to open the switch if I need to. It doesn't work with SIP sockets there isn't enough space. I have tried SIP sockets and they were a pain to solder and considering I don't swap LED's there was not advantage for me.
@rrdm: that's interesting, sockets that small, never saw any like that.

That sounds very interesting. The biggest pain of LEDs is that it stops you from opening switches. If that wasn't a problem, my FaceW would already have Nixies in it.
Nice picture, ramnes.

I hate you you have that many nixies !! My dream is to build a 60% with nixies, but I missed that train when the Nixdorf boards were cheap, I was moving back home at that timescottc wrote: ↑That sounds very interesting. Oh no, sorry DanielT! That's a shame. Yeah, I got one single board of them. They didn't come cheap, though... I paid more than I was comfortable spending on them, but hopefully it'll be worth it. I'm thinking of trying to trade one of my fancy boards for something worth using them in once I have some more spare time.
By the way, in case you hadn't guessed, that's your FaceW that I'm talking about! I'll be home tomorrow night, remind me to show you how slick it looks now that it's wearing E80-3000HASRO caps.

I think those caps look really cool with the blue LED's
As for the Nixies, well maybe one day I'll get some. One thing I have learned is to have patience, in time tou get what you want for the right price.
For me linear MX switches are perfect and one thing that I have noticed, the more you use them the smother they get. I have a board with stock brand new MX Red, at first they felt like crap with sand inside but after 6 months they are smooth and really nice with no lube or stuff like that.
In a month or so I should have all my projects finished and then I will make a thread with my collection.

Or I will buy 2-3 here 2-3 there, leftovers from other users until I get enough for one 60%
