Instead of starting a new thread all the time with boards I've done, I figured I'd start a rolling thread that others can add to as well!

Post your dirtiest, nastiest, most neglected boards and/or after clean up photos here!

Bring on the filth!!!

I'll start it off with my most recent stuff.

Still working on this next board. It's had a preliminary cleaning and the steel plate has sat through electrolysis and citric acid sessions - no more rust! :D

Some of what I've got.

A bit of everything:

After a quick and not-that-great cleaning:

An AT board I was removing keycaps from:

A couple 3278 boards:

I'll have more later but I can't be bothered to go take more pictures.

Don't suppose you'd be selling one of those 3278s?

Got a Model F from Romania that required some tender, loving care:

Pulled this out of the garage since I can't go to school per the health department (thanks brother for getting whopping cough!).

Awwww! She's gorgeous! 91's are one of my favorite model years. Lots of small design nuances. And the hammers are black! And they used a dielectric in between the membrane circuits. And some of the birth labels are laser printed on a durable plastic-ish label. Yay for sick days! :P

I know there's a later version of this thread, somewhere, and μ will probably find it a minute after I post. Anyhow, the dirtiest one I've seen in awhile.

I recently cleaned my office board that hasn't been cleaned in about 3 years... there was enough hair in there for a small toupee. Also plenty of breadcrumbs... unfortunately (or fortunately) I didn't take any pics. After cleaning, it looks as good as new :D

Great work! Did you get the plate zinc-coated later or just painted it?

Some years ago I bought a lot of Model Ms that had been stored in a garage outbuilding for decades. This is the only picture that I have of the restoration process. The "crust" was a uniform 2mm deep across the entire board. You could feel it if you were typing in certain areas of the board, it actually made the click noticeably quieter. The entire board reeked of tobacco, I had to pressure wash the case to even begin attacking the buildup on the case and that barely got past it. The membrane had actually been eaten through in some areas by small worms which I found on the interior of the barrel plate. Definitely the most "ew factor" keyboards I have ever touched, although the worst are probably my flood rescue F XTs that I am currently in the process of restoring.
