I thought Peerless was neat when I first found one, but quickly learned that they are one of the worst switches I've personally used (right there with foam & foil and MEI).

Correct, which is wierd because Fujitsu made some brilliant switches before that with the Leaf Spring generations. Of course PFT who makes the HHKB is a Fujitsu daughter.

I wish topre wasn't so bloddy overpriced. The tenkeyless realforce was one of the first ever Mechanical keyboards I found out about. At first, I though it was a neat retro-looking keyboard from the video I watched on it (I think it was TaeKeyboards and another channel's), then I saw the price and flipped out!!!

Honestly I don't see the big deal with Topre. I tried it and didn't like it at all. Just felt like a soft rubber dome.

Nice, and yes Topre is really overpriced and always was. New ones aren't much cheaper even in Japan.

They have the audacity to charge $100+ for these! Suckers. If someone can explain to me where all that money is going (besides spherical springs and rubber sheets), please do. I'd love to know why.

With the current prices cherry boards are the only ones which are really worth its money imo, everything else is just reaching stupid dimensions (except if you camp on ebay all day long and get a good price)

Yea they sound like amazing boards, but im not quite ready to drop that much. Still Ill enjoy every picture/sound test of topre that is posted

Don't forget that sometimes keyboards that are "crappy" according to you guys are quite sought after by vintage computer collectors and they may be quite rare and sought after, hence higher than average cost. For example, a rubber-dome Mitsumi might be "crappy" to you internally but it goes with an Amiga 3000 or an Apple II, etc.

I'm well aware of that, I know that snuci was wanting my Sharp X68000 PCB a couple of years ago because his was incomplete. Peerless are pretty common though so it's not too hard to find them.

Correct these type of keyboards using these switches MUST always be New In Box.

It's one of those switches that's affected by dust far more than any Alps switch. Of course see the Alps disaster's being sold on Flebay punished and used beyond their existence.

You can certainly try and save an Alps keyboard by cleaning, replacing springs if need be or the switch itself and return it back to it's once 'pristine' condition. Although you have to be a true maestro to be able to resurrect some of these Flebay keyboards.
