It is awfully unscrupulous but what can you do (besides shame them on ebay messages)?wobbled wrote: 13 Jul 2020, 20:58Disgusting greedy cunts who need to get the fuck away from our hobbynewtype_ wrote: 13 Jul 2020, 20:41 Asked the > $1000 IBM 5140 seller if they would take less (like an 80% discount lol) and they said they refuse to go lower. Yeah... a few months ago, there was a lovely NOS Gold Badge Northgate OmniKey, listed at the absurd price of 800 dollars. I went as far as offering 500, but the seller didn’t even care to respond. Greedy fucks.
The Northgate stayed for sale for a month, and then it vanished. Must’ve been acquired by some rich person. LOL

Well, wasn't me who bought it if you understood that. Only saying that for me $800 is in the same league than $500 if you can really spend that much.Weezer wrote: 14 Jul 2020, 00:15Shots firedinmbolmie wrote: 14 Jul 2020, 00:11Well, only $300 richer than you BTWenrique.aliaga wrote: 13 Jul 2020, 23:48 Yeah... a few months ago, there was a lovely NOS Gold Badge Northgate OmniKey, listed at the absurd price of 800 dollars. 800 is less that I spent on my near immaculate beamspring, that's an awful lot to pay for something that is only barely different from white ALPS. regardless of how rich the buyer was they certainly are an idiot.

I don't think I would personally classify 500 and 800 as "in the same league." That's a 60% increase.

If you want what you want, then you have to decide what you are willing to pay for it.
Your time frame might be immediate, or weeks, or months, or years. The more patient and diligent you are in your searching, the cheaper the price that you will eventually find.
If you want an uncommon piece of gear that is decades old, in immaculate condition, today, then you should expect to pay top dollar.

I genuinely don't understand the amount of rage towards this one seller. People go prospecting on eBay all the time with every item, what makes this guy so unacceptably outrageous? <--honest questionnewtype_ wrote: 14 Jul 2020, 23:55 lmao theyre multiplying now, if this one pos seller actually engenders a tripling of the going price for these im rage quitting the hobby

Mine has got pf keys instead of numpad, Italian layout keys, both feet and original box as well. It has got an operative solenoid and it is fully working thanks to Luis Chinese adaptor purchased on eBay. I paid it 150€ shipping included. I removed the original foam, restored it and placed in my collection window. Sometime I take it out if I have something special to write very aloud. It's my F beamspring, pratically. The only bad note is that I can't remap keys due to converter limitations. On the other side, the converter is external so the original cable hasn't never been replaced.
