So we also use demi-water or water with Decon 90 in it.
+1. The calcium hardness and total alkalinity of water here in Texas is absurd. I know this because we have a pool. I always use reverse osmosis water because I've got an RO tap in my kitchen and I can get a bunch of it. I should be using distilled water even if it is about 0.25 USD / liter.

@Chyros, @XMIT: Thanks for your comments.

In my lab, I always use distilled water in my water baths to avoid rusting of the stainless-steel tanks and getting mineral deposits in the circulators. However, for my home ultrasonic cleaner, I empty the tank after each use, rinse the tank and basket thoroughly with tap water, rinse the tank and basket with 70% (v/v) isopropyl alcohol, and dry.

Ultrasonic cleaning solutions vary depending upon the items being cleaned and the type of contaminants being removed from the items. For aqueous-based solutions, additives can include detergents, acetic acid, and isopropyl alcohol, among others.

Modern detergents are effective at reducing surface tension for effective cleaning even in relatively "hard" (mineral laden) water. So, I have not found it necessary to use distilled or deionized water for the cleaning step. However, to avoid mineral deposits on the cleaned items, after removal from the ultrasonic tank, I rinse thoroughly in distilled water and/or 70% (v/v) isopropyl alcohol before air-drying.

Sure is. Wonder why they felt a smaller numpad was an improvement over the 4000 models.

The keyboard is not very exciting for you guys (it's a Mitsumi) but I love it. I just got my PET 8296 going about a week ago. It is beautiful. I also have the matching printer which has the same lines. I could take some keyboard pics if there aren't any.

Epson Q103A (Sold): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vintage-Ep ... 2062073608

Couldn't find any info on it, but the LED positions tell me it's Alps, probably linears (SKCL Greens?). In which case whoever bought it got a very decent deal.

NIB IBM RT 6247440: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-IBM-6247440 ... 2269062027

The rubber dome version I think, and not the proto-Topre one. Still very nice.

This was one of our own... he was contacted and both will stay in the family at a MUCH more realistic amount ;). If we do another round of a new novel board later (for profit with a mild margin), maybe we figure out a way to do more "contests" for these types of goodies to keep it "break even". We'll see... In the mean time, both are in very safe keeping

It's marketed as an AT101W but it's actually an AT101. Indeed, pine black Alps.

I really like my SGI Granite keyboard - it's so handsome: PBT dye-sub caps, the sturdy case made from its specially granite patterned plastic, and the not too loud dampened Alps switches. I've even acquire the SGI mouse so that it's a pair. 8-)

Unfortunately for my current home set up, a full-size keyboard will eliminate the tiny bit of remaining space for a mouse or a trackball.

That Dell sold almost immediately - I checked when I got into work this morning and still saw it available, then checked again about an hour later and it was gone. Seemed like a pretty good deal at that price if there was indeed no shipping cost.

This guy is selling 2 "NOS" keyboards marked as TRS-80 replacement keyboards. In actual fact it seems like they are part of a kit copy of the TRS80 called the LNW-80. PCB is marked "Hi-Tec" and from the look of it could be Hi-Tec linear switches. Pretty cheap in the US, which is not me unfortunately

Yes, should be Hi-Tek linear. I've got the Stackpole version.

Mine is fucking awful. I mean really BAD. It's not that clean, though. Both the Stackpole and Hi-Tek versions of this design are known for being extremely stiff by default, though.

Yeah, Stackpole switch grid is horrendous. Not the worst switch ever (that goes to whatever is in the C64), but still... Three examples and they've all been pretty awful.

Also, picked up this one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/252684878811

It's not that I don't want it...but a case that dirty I'm almost guaranteed to have to go out and by an ultrasonic cleaner, too!

I think the real question is: why did I buy one? ;)

Sounds like this guy had three of them. One sold the other night after I looked at it. I bought one (at a discount), then he posted another right after. I might buy the last one if he gives a better price on it. I'll probably try to find someone in Denmark (or Norway) that wants the second set if I get it, since shipping to me is free.
