The Answer Lies Within The Question

The nominees in the category Best space-saving or compact keyboard 2014 are:

JD40 by jdcarpe • Less is more. Come on, you're looking at the space-saving / compact keyboard award, aren't you! Many people think 60% is too daring, but not Jdcarpe, who stripped off the number row and trimmed the mods to make an elegant, minuscule and downright mouthwatering 40% keyboard: the JD40. And if you want one, there's a kit with profits going to an excellent cause.

NovaTouch TKL • Cooler Master teamed up with Topre this year to create the ultimate crossover keyboard: the appropriately named NovaTouch. Topre switches meet Cherry MX compatible stems. Finally, the good feeling of oneness with cup rubber under all those caps from your group buys!

TEX Yoda • Besides for [wiki]buckling spring[/wiki], IBM is well remembered for the [wiki]TrackPoint[/wiki]. Keyboard newcomers, TEX, known for the Beetle, came back with a TrackPoint style integrated pointer keyboard this year: the Yoda. Using a front row of extra thumb keys for the mouse buttons, they made a memorable and very useful 60%. Even more space saved without a mouse!

The infinity keyboard by Massdrop • How about a 60% built with Matias switches? Or MX? How about not needing to choose! MassDrop's Infinity keyboard is a smart platform designed with both in mind. And its case brings a new level of minimalism to the littlest of boards.

XTant Model F TKL by Wcass • A project lasting two years came to completion when Wcass unveiled his finished creation: The XTant. The heart and soul of an IBM XT, with its prized capsense buckling spring switches and its military grade strength; the XTant converts this classic into a much friendlier, contemporary layout. XTs the world over are trembling at the prospect of their heavy duty makeover.

And the Wingnut for Best space-saving or compact keyboard 2014, as voted for by the members of deskthority, goes to...

Just don't go using too much of The Force now, Master Yoda! It's meant for your finger.

Meh! They only where quicker! The qHack would have won this category with its trackpoint, real mouse buttons and scrollwheel!
:evilgeek:

Nevertheless, the TeXYoda is a nice quick and dirty hack.
