The GH60 works with hasu's firmware . The GIT repository has a special branch for GH60
Whenever these famous GH60 boards will be available I will grab one. But for now I can bite the bullet and use windows to program my board.

technically speaking we could burn whatever we want on them (given you have an ISP programmer which is €5 btw)

Right, I should have known from poking around with his source!
I just don't grasp the difference between the GH60's processor / bootloader / ?? and the Face's. If it can be liberated to run TMK and (even better for me) Soarer, then it's tasty. Otherwise not for me.
Ah, it's not reprogrammable via USB, like a Teensy?matt3o wrote: ↑technically speaking we could burn whatever we want on them (given you have an ISP programmer which is €5 btw)

I'm talking about the bootloader. You need an ISP to upload the bootloader. Once you have it, you can reprogram the layout via USB. The boards already come with the bootloader.

So, hypothetically speaking, if a certain kind and handsome robot were to have such a programmer, and loaded the nice TMK compatible bootloader, I could use one of these just fine without ever worrying about Windows?
I'm trying to figure out when the bootloader gets in the way. I don't quite understand its limits, and when it needs re-flashed.

the controller is the same, if you burn an avrdude compatible bootloader you could reprogram the firmware from anywhere. I don't know what bootloader the faceu comes with, but if we inverse engineer the matrix we could use GH60 firmware (or anything else) if we wanted to.

Interesting… I'd be up for this if I can have it with a compatible bootloader instead so I can reprogram it at will, like a Pro Micro if not a Teensy. Count me in if you don't mind reflashing one for me! But it's a cheeky request, and I'll shut up if you don't want to take on the hassle…

looking at the little (Korean) documentation I'm pretty positive the firmware is avrdude compatible, anyway I asked tinnie to ask the seller about it. Consider that I need it to be linux compatible and I'm gonna reflash it anyway if it is not. So not a big deal to do the same to your board.
