Translations

Newbie alert...

After reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Translate_us and not seeing the answer, I'm asking here. How do I translate a page so that a visitor automatically gets the translated page when it matches his/her preferred language? The URL above only explains how to do this when the translation is on a different wiki, but surely it would be a tad better that this happened transparently using a single wiki. I'm new to wikis so I need some help to start, when I know how I'll try to translate the contents to Spanish (es_ES).

I don't think anyone knows the answer here, we'd be getting in to something new. I guess this would be a starting point for research:
