Hi. So I am in the market for a new gaming keyboard. I was discouraged from buying a topre but I really want one so give me suggestions for them. I have the money for just about anything short of a korean custom keyboard. I have about 250-300 dollars do splurge but obviously will splurge less if needed. I am currently thinking about a ducky shine 3/4, filco majestetouch 2, or a KUL-ES87. I may get the ducky due to backlighting but are the other 2 better in quality? ALso give me some other selections. Also, feel free to suggest topre's! I probably want brown/red/topre switches. At first I wanted backlighting but after finding out good keyboards don't have it I don't want it anymore. Please do not suggest a keyboard model that is in dark grey because I DESPISE those keyboards' looks.

Just get the Topre already, yeesh!
It's a great board. Probably the best in the world today. That or the HHKB. I consider both of mine to be my very best boards, along with some absurd vintage stuff you'll have never heard of and wished you hadn't…

Yeah, I'm mildly aware of that…
Go pick. You haven't actually narrowed anything down besides preferring the white ones.

Or I would like black XD. So I would like a slightly minimalist design but not hhkb minimalist. I feel larger is cooler but minimalist is cool too. I do not want any shade of gray. White, black, or any color in the rainbow. I do not want angled keys, unless they are slightly angled towards me. I like a bigger keyboard, but tkl is better for gaming. I would love backlit keyboards, but there are none of topre .

Actually… these are backlit Topre.
The new Type Heaven. The caps are ABS (a common kind of plastic) instead of Topre's usual PBT (a tougher plastic most of us like more) but the case is metal and I suspect you'll like it. When it comes out…

Also, what keyboard would you use for gaimng. It doesn't need to be a topre as cheery mx red are supposedly a bit better. Would making a custom one cost a lot? I don't have heavy duty tools or anything but maybe..... So what are the best MX gaming keyboards. Also I heard the corsair k70/90 isn't good. Why not? SO my best bet for 300 dollars is a ducky? That seems a bit underwhelming...

Really don't matter any switch as long as it isn't too heavy.bobafetish wrote: ↑Also, what keyboard would you use for gaimng. If I would be buying an off-the-shelf keyboard for gaming then it would be kinesis advantage.
Mouse in one hand and the other hand has a nice ergonomic access to 34 keys. You can remap the keys withing the keyboard if the game does not support defining custom keyboard controls. Back-lightning does not improve your gaming performance.
Though there are reports that it does not work with Windows7 and USB3 (even when plugged to an USB2 port). But it works on my Windows7 machine which has USB3 ports too.
Forget about non-ergonomic keyboards. You do not want to get some kind of injury from long gaming sessions. That is if you plan to game a lot. If you already have such a big budget why not to lower the chances that you finish like this guy: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-32996009
And it is a good keyboard for typing too.

if you will do long gaming sessions, then en ergonomic keyboard would be the healthy bet
If you are not that much into customizing (keycaps, backlight, etc) and you prefer comfort more, I would also recommend the Matias Ergo Pro (besides vvp's recommendation above)
According to this review, it is a good choice for both typing and gaming.

Guys: $300. These suggestions SUCK! You're not thinking costly enough. Needs moar price tag.
Besides, if you go straight to Topre, then you can use all the money you didn't waste on verifying that MX sucks goat balls first… towards your second Topre. It's both splurging and saving.

Right, of course he could blow a lot of dough by importing something like a FC660C/EB from Japan. Just for good measure.

Korea. Gotta be Korea. I'd look at the creamy beige HiPro that Topre doesn't even sell to the filthy plebs in Japan.
Of course, you're looking at more like $400 of Realforce there.

Has +420 APM backlight, +69% headshot rate font, 2KRO optimised around WASD area but poop just about anywhere else, and is used by pro gamers that get money for posing around with it.

wait, aren't topres not backlit, KRKS? Also, I am thinking about buying the Filco Majestetouch 2 and modding it to make it backlit, and adding keycaps. Is that a good idea? I know its a lot of work but the ducky shine just didn't seem...... right, to me. OR should I get the topre?

Only the chintzy new entry level Topre Type Heavens are backlit. Their best boards are good and dark.
How about Cherry's costly MX 6.0 board? You bet it's backlit!

MX 6.0 is cheaper than a filco. but sadly, its not out either. Does anyone have any layout ideas of colored keycaps I could put on the filco? It is gonna be a black board (until I make an aluminum mod) so besides, the W, A, S, and D keys on the keyboard, what else should I add?

that's one expensive rubber dome that realforce !!!!
That being said , I wants it !
You could by a blue and grey set of the caps i linked and make all the mods blue!

Seems strange we're having a stroking thread here without Kishsavers and Industrial SSKs coming up yet. I mean it's almost page 2…
