Did some more research.
The text and illustrations of US patents published before March 1, 1989 are in the public domain unless the patent text contains a specific notice that portions are copyrighted.
Fortunately most of the drawings we are interested in are before 1989... so we can have the following shirt!

Tek Syndicate makes a T-shirt with the buckling spring patent already. Only the black one left in their stores, but I have seen white before. They also have a Cherry MX patent shirt, a modular jack patent and a mouse patent shirt motifs.

The images are free. So they are free to. And we are just as free to ignore them! Those guys have no more right to the design than we do. And they ain't contributing to DT.

Everything about that image is awful, on purpose. Which is fine and all. But I ain't endorsing it as anything to do with DT!

We have no shortage of cat images here at DT. I love Compgeke's feline tasting some IBM keycaps, must be that CA cats are hardcore like that.
ripster rules that thread with that dog in front of those portable toilets. Classic.

What when it's after 1989? Can such a copyright expire within a decent timespan or is it the absurd <death of creator> + 75 years?matt3o wrote: ↑The text and illustrations of US patents published before March 1, 1989 are in the public domain unless the patent text contains a specific notice that portions are copyrighted.
(If you didn't read about that one, don't bother to look up all the details. I just wonder if you happen to know anything about it but if you don't for sure you can say No.)

That reads like it's when the US joined the Berne Convention (at which point copyright became automatic), meaning it's life+75 or 90 years most likely.

Submissions are only valid when posted in the headers thread. I must see it in place! Click to preview doesn't work here.
As you know, Topre switches are older than MX. Was there even a patent for the HHKB layout? And if so, when?photekq wrote: ↑Yeah, especially the HHKB.

How could I pass up the stickers when I can buy 6 for 50% off?! Wait, that's the the point..?

I've got a mug AND a t-shirt AND six stickers in my basket. Might pass on the stickers, but I thought I might as well get another (for a laptop or something) and getting six is just pennies more than getting one.

Oh well you're all set then. That's some selection. I "only" got one mug, but it's nice and Mu better get that sticker to me or I'll have to make my own. I still got this one tiny transparent DT logo sticker from webwit's duck boutique, I was thinking of having that reproduced.scottc wrote: ↑I've got a mug AND a t-shirt AND six stickers in my basket.
