I've been auctioning for a very long time, this is a clear case of the seller (or friends/trolls) inflating the price. Usually people aren't foolish enough to fall for it, especially seasoned KB buyers.

I'm glad I just have a singular focus on Alps (it's a defense mechanism, trust me), because otherwise I'd go apeshit over being unable to acquire rare boards like the Symbolics and such.

Oh, Alps is the only switch I really care about, but the space cadet has so much history behind it that I'd love one. I've heard the switches are great too.

Why exactly is the space cadet so valuable? The rarity?

Geek cred, it is infamous in the hacker community. It also was born in the MIT AI lab with people like Tom Knight and Richard Stallman. It also heavily inspired the development of Emacs.
Plus it is ultra rare, and has pretty amazing keycaps plus excellent Honeywell switches.
But I also think it is nostalgia, all the students that "grew up" at MIT have excellent memories of the CADR and other Lisp Machines, all using the legendary keyboards- making them yearn to relive some of that magic.
And then you have people like Webwit.

These two posts made in sequential order makes for an amazingly unintentional juxtaposition.

So who got the banana Samsung-branded Chicony 5161?
See, we can still get blue Alps for reasonable prices, but you just have to act fast! I didn't even notice this one!

that HP one I had to use a lot and I found it REALLY crappy to type on.. no clue how HP managed to create a rubber dome that feels like rusty when you type on it.. should be pretty difficult to realize such a crap imho.. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
the PCjr layout I really love.. never tried it out but I hear it could have similar "rusty"/"crappy" typing feeling as well..I think sooner or later I'd try to get one to try to refurbish the caps in order to use them on cherry mx stems somehow and handwire the matrix to some teensy in the insides.. anyone?![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
and that microscope? oh man! any closeup of his unisys keyb?

It's part of the former lot that was taken down; the dell AT101 was already sold, but here's the DC-3014:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leading-edge-ke ... 2518.l4276
Truly the month of Leading Edge. This guy wants blood, and by that, I mean money.
March really has been a ridiculous month for Alps in general.
Also, decent price for a ZKB-2:

Starting at $100 and reserve not met. Wonder what the reserve is... hopefully not $600
any idea if that ZKB-2 has green alps? I've seen they are with either green or yellow.

Oh come on. This guy is obviously expecting big dollars, even places an (unnecessary) reserve on it. Keyboard is dirty, one terrible picture, no description. Make an effort!

Ew. Like, I always clean anything before I sell it. Some people.

Some not so great deals but interesting nonetheless:
Fingerworks Touchstream LP: I think the seller has two units, both brand new, with a very odd price...and price difference.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINT-FingerWork ... 1887828452
--
assembled Ergodox Infinity (for anyone who missed the last drop and wants modern MX browns for some reason)

There are all kinds of interesting sellers on eBay. I just encountered one who packs up the item before even listing. Listing says "Feel free to contact with any questions." I asked a specific question about the item itself. He replied: "Sorry, item is already packed up."
Smart cookie right there. What a great selling practice, make the item inaccessible so you can't answer any questions.
